The first season of Prime Video's highly anticipated Fallout TV series debuted in its entirety last week, taking fans of the popular video game franchise to the post-apocalyptic wasteland we've spent years exploring. The show featured all kinds of Easter eggs and nods to the games, including a few popular creatures from the wasteland. We saw Yaogui and Gulpers, but the likes of Super Mutants and Deathclaws -- arguably the most iconic creatures from the games -- were missing from the show.

Without giving any specifics away about the ending of Fallout Season 1, one of the very last shots of the finale features the skull of a Deathclaw in the desert, teasing their existence and setting them up for a debut in Season 2. But why hold them for the sophomore season?

According to the Fallout showrunners, it was all about saving some big elements from the games for the future. During a recent interview with TheWrap, showrunners Graham Wagner and Geneve Robertson-Dworet talked about that Deathclaw tease.

"We wanted to get Deathclaws, but we didn't want to just throw it away," Wagner explained. "It's such a monumental piece. We want to save something for Season 2 to be able to do it properly, not just added on to the massive world building we had to do already in Season 1. So Season 2, we're very excited to finally tackle one of the most iconic elements of the games."

Robertson-Dworet went on to say that it was a challenge to decide exactly what from the Fallout games needed to be in Season 1 and what needed to be saved for later.

"There's all the greatest hit things, like the most obvious things that people who aren't even gamers know about Fallout, like Nuka-Cola, Deathclaws, whatever. There are these things that are just so prevalent and we were tempted to do all of them in Season 1," she said. "But on the other hand, we didn't want to see the show seem like it was written by people who just like spent 10 seconds reading the Wikipedia page for Fallout and didn't bother to bring in some deeper cuts. So it was important to us to also bring deeper cuts into Season 1. Hopefully that won't piss off fans because we didn't get to every last thing, but hopefully they will bear with us and pray with us that we get a second season to bring these things to screen."

Fallout hasn't been officially renewed for Season 2, but the stars seem to be aligning for a series return.

Saturday Night Live's Beavis and Butt-Head Sketch Was in the Works for Five Years https://comicbook.com/tv-shows/news/saturday-night-live-snl-beavis-butthead-sketch-five-years-in-making/ Mon, 15 Apr 2024 23:59:00 +0000 Adam Barnhardt f5e38c2f-a21c-407e-b809-503c444d18c9

Saturday Night Live's Beavis and Butt-Head sketch has taken the internet by storm, quickly becoming one of the most viral sketches from 30 Rock in recent memory. Featuring Ryan Gosling and Mikey Day as the teenage slackers, the sketch is something that's been in the works at Studio 8H for quite some time, with Day and his writing partner Streeter Seidell always trying to pitch the sketch to the rest of the show's writing team. According to SNL mainstay Heidi Gardner, the typically stoic repertory player who broke several times during the sketch, it's always been passed on for a variety of reasons.

"It was a sketch that had been put up at table reads and rehearsals for about five years prior to this. Previously, I was in the sketch but as an audience member. I can't remember the other castings of it. It never made it to a dress rehearsal," Gardner said in a new chat with Vulture.

She added, "Every so often, because of timing or the stage it's in, a sketch might be cut on a Friday night as opposed to a Saturday. That's what happened the time before. I had never seen the costumes. It was a sketch that Mikey Day and Streeter Seidell kept on pitching, like, 'Before the end of our time here, we have to do the Beavis and Butt-Head sketch.' It was their white whale; they really wanted to do it. Knowing Ryan is always so down for fun and playful things, my guess is they thought he would be into it."

You can see the full sketch in question below.

Who is in the Saturday Night Live cast?

Cast members for Saturday Night Live season 49 include almost the entire cast from season 48 of SNL. Returning stars include Michael Che, Mikey Day, Andrew Dismukes, Chloe Fineman, Heidi Gardner, James Austin Johnson, Punkie Johnson, Colin Jost, Ego Nwodim, Sarah Sherman, Kenan Thompson, and Bowen Yang. Featured players that are part of the cast include returning stars Marcello Hernandez, Molly Kearney, Michael Longfellow, and Devon Walker, plus the show's only fully new cast member for the year, newcomer Chloe Troast. The comedy troupe Please Don't Destroy, made up of Ben Marshall, John Higgins, and Martin Herlihy, are also a recurring part of the series.

Saturday Night Live Season 49 is ongoing now with new episodes airing on both NBC and Peacock, starting Saturdays at 11:30 PM ET. All 48 seasons of Saturday Night Live are also now streaming on Peacock.

Tracker Season 1 Adds Manifest Star in Key Role https://comicbook.com/tv-shows/news/tracker-cast-season-1-melissa-roxburgh-colter-sister-manifest/ Mon, 15 Apr 2024 23:01:00 +0000 Charlie Ridgely 417422b3-e6f3-4b10-a98d-158038eb3218

Tracker is getting perhaps its biggest guest star to-date in the coming episodes. The hit CBS series stars Justin Hartley as rewardist Colter Shaw, an expert tracker that finds missing people and things. A big part of the show's freshman season has been Colter's mysterious past, in which his brother may or may not have killed his father. A part of that past will come knocking soon, as Tracker has cast the grown-up version of Colter's younger sister, Dory.

On Monday, Hartley and the Tracker social media channels revealed that Manifest star Melissa Roxburgh has been cast as Dory on the show, and that she'll be appearing "in the coming weeks."

Dory appeared in the series premiere as a young child in flashbacks. Their father getting aggressive with Dory is what lead Colter's brother to retaliate against him in the first place. That same brother has been a source of contention for Colter in the present. Colter continues to ignore his brother's calls, and fans still aren't sure what revelations will come to light about their relationship.

What Is Tracker About?

Hartley's Colter Shaw is described as a "lone wolf" who drives around the country seeking rewards for missing people and personal belongings. The episodes follow Shaw on different cases in different places, and he runs into various characters along the way. You can check out the official synopsis below!

"Tracker stars Justin Hartley as Colter Shaw, a lone-wolf survivalist who roams the country as a reward seeker, using his expert tracking skills to help private citizens and law enforcement solve all manner of mysteries while contending with his own fractured family. The series is based on the bestselling novel The Never Game by Jeffery Deaver."

Tracker Cast

Unlike some other shows, Tracker doesn't have an extensive main cast, due to Colter Shaw's status as a nomad. Each episode puts him in a new place, but he has a couple of important people in his life that offer support and bring him new cases.

Fiona Rene stars as Reenie, a lawyer who has a past with Colter and is consistently called on when he has run-ins with the law. Bobby, a hacker and tech expert, is played by Eric Graise. Robin Weigert and Abby McEnany play Teddi and Velma, respectively. The duo of animal lovers regularly find jobs for Colter and help him get in touch with the right people to solve a problem.

New Primal Promo Sparks Buzz Over Season 3 https://comicbook.com/anime/news/primal-season-3-theory-adult-swim-promo/ Mon, 15 Apr 2024 22:57:00 +0000 Nick Valdez 08a33fc9-c16b-41c1-ba11-6b041ec2b6ad

Genndy Tartakovsky's Primal is currently in the works on returning to Adult Swim for Season 3, and a new promo has sparked some major theories about what the new season could be tackling! Primal Season 2 ended with a pretty definitive ending for Spear and Fang's story after two seasons of surviving the wilderness together, so there was a question as to whether or not there could be future seasons of the animated series. When a third season was announced last Summer, it started getting fans wondering about what new characters and stories the series is going to tell from here on out.

While it has been some time since Primal Season 3 has been announced, Adult Swim has not shared many updates on the production. Adult Swim recently debuted a new promo featuring Primal, and while these promos usually don't necessarily tie into the canon or tease future events, the increased focus on Lord Darlington from the Season 2 episode, "The Primal Theory" has fans wondering if we'll not only see the character again but whether or not he's truly a descendant of Spear's bloodline given how the promo evolves. Check it out below as spotted by Swimpedia on X.

What to Know for Primal Season 3

Primal Season 3 has yet to announce a release window or date as of the time of this publication, nor have any concrete story details been revealed for the new episodes. There's a chance we could follow one of Spear's descendants, or new characters altogether given the range of Primal's timeline in its narrative. Series creator Genndy Tartakovsky did tease last year that he had a "spectacular" idea for the new season in an interview with ComicBook.com.

"I have something in mind that is so spectacular I cannot wait to do it, and we're trying to figure out how to do it," Tartakovsky revealed. "It's a brand new world, but I'm so into it. I think everybody's going to love it. It's a very natural progression without giving anything away, but I've got more things for the Primal world and I cannot wait to do more." Could this mean more of Lord Darlington?

Invincible Renewed for Seasons 4 and 5: Report https://comicbook.com/anime/news/invincible-season-4-season-5/ Mon, 15 Apr 2024 22:03:00 +0000 Megan Peters dbbf0269-9e1a-4194-9e62-c324e90bfe39

Superhero fatigue has become a popular topic of conversation in Hollywood, but projects like Invincible are pushing back against the narrative. The animated series has become a mega-hit for Amazon, and its growth isn't slowing down. With two seasons on hand, Amazon is already looking to expand Invincible with a third season run. And now, reports have surfaced that Invincible is planning two more seasons beyond that.

The report comes from Republic as the site launched a new investment opportunity in tandem with Invincible. The creators of Invincible are working within Skybound to create a AAA video game set in the superhero universe. The investment pitch has earned lots of attention, and the page's Q&A suggests Invincible has locked in an order for season four and season five.

At this time, Amazon has not said anything official about Invincible beyond season three. The company made a two-season order on Invincible in the wake of season one. However, given the show's success, it is easy to see Amazon moving ahead with Invincible for the foreseeable future.

After all, Invincible season two has been a solid with its fans and critics alike. With a Rotten Tomatoes score of 100%, Invincible has become must-watch television. The show houses a stacked cast including Steven Yeun, Sandra Oh, and J.K. Simmons to start. And with Amazon MGM Studios backing the show alongside Skybound, you can see why fans are confident this report about Invincible are spot on.

If you are not caught up with Invincible, no sweat! You can read its original comic by Robert Kirkman courtesy of Image Comics. As for the TV series, seasons one and two are streaming now on Amazon. So for more info on the series, you can read the official synopsis of Invincible below:

"When Mark Grayson inherits superpowers at seventeen, it's a dream come true - until he learns that being a hero isn't as black and white as the comic books he read as a kid."

Donald Glover Is Developing an Anime with Comedian Zack Fox https://comicbook.com/anime/news/donald-glover-anime-zack-fox/ Mon, 15 Apr 2024 22:03:00 +0000 Megan Peters d34c8dd2-887b-4809-b140-b7237597281b

These days, anime is getting its due. The industry has become a force to reckon with as streaming has turned anime into an entertainment juggernaut. From original series to anticipated adaptations, the field is staying busy. And thanks to Donald Glover, we know the actor is developing his own anime with help from comedian Zack Fox.

The confession comes from Glover himself as the star chatted about his latest projects on GILGA Radio Show. It was there Glover confirmed the title of Childish Gambino's final album, and when asked about the future, Glover revealed he is working on an anime.

So far, we know little about the project other than it is an anime with Glover and Fox at the helm. Given the pair's work, netizens are hoping the anime has a comedic angle to it. Glover is renowned for its comedy whether it be on film or through standup. And of course, Fox got his start in comedy by doing standup around Atlanta, Georgia.

This new anime project is catching some by surprise, but Glover isn't the only Hollywood star pursuing anime. Michael B. Jordan made waves a few years ago as he teamed with Rooster Teeth to create Gen:Lock. The anime earned solid reviews from fans and critics alike. With two seasons under its belt, Gen:Lock's future is up in the air given the recent fate of Rooster Teeth. The production company announced it was folding under Warner Bros. Discovery, but Rooster Teeth announced it was looking to sell assets like Gen:Lock to interested buyers.

While Glover works on his anime behind the scenes, the actor is staying busy with other projects. Not long ago, Glover earned praise for his role in the TV reboot of Mr. & Mrs. Smith with Maya Erskine. Glover is also set to work on Lando, a new Star Wars series under Disney+, as well as a parody biopic of 21 Savage.

What do you think about this reveal from Glover? Let us know what you think in the comments below as well as on Twitter and Instagram. You can also hit me up @MeganPetersCB to share your take!

Shogun: It's Always Sunny's Rob McElhenney Reacts to Fans Thinking He Cameoed in Show https://comicbook.com/tv-shows/news/shogun-its-always-sunnys-rob-mcelhenney-cameo-episode-8-explained/ Mon, 15 Apr 2024 21:18:00 +0000 Kofi Outlaw 7174ce58-ebac-4bc9-93a0-1cabd9d307be

It's Always Sunny In Edo - or is it? Has the gang really gone to Feudal-era Japan?

In one of TV crossovers we never thought we'd see, the worlds of FX's Shogun and FXX's It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia collided over the weekend. The whole thing started with Sunny creator, writer, star, and producer Rob McElhenney had a post go viral on social media. The post showed a character from FX's Sh?gun - General Tomono, played by actor Hitoshi Masaki - who looked eerily similar to what Rob McElhenney would look like, if he tried to dress up like a Feudal Japanese lord.

The post from McElhenney quickly went viral, as fans speculated about whether or not McElhenney was making a sneak cameo in Sh?gun, or whether this is was just a case of twin syndrome that was delightfully uncanny. Masaki quickly jumped in to verify it was him in the scene that McElhenney posted, but that hasn't stopped the Internet from continuing to have fun with the idea fo Rob McElhenney having a role in Sh?gun. From It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia-style episode titles ("The Gang Goes to Feudal Japan") to famous quotes from Sunny being re-applied in the context of Sh?gun... it's a pretty funny thread to fall into - especially if you're a fan of both shows.

Will Sh?gun Get Season 2?

It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia has achieved the milestone of being the longest-running live-action sitcom of all time, heading into Season 17 (at the time of writing this). Sh?gun, meanwhile, is based on a 1975 novel by author James Clavell, and it's a major question whether FX and Hulu/Disney will choose to keep the show going beyond the source material.

ComicBook.com got to speak with Sh?gun editors Maria Gonzales and Aika Miyake and ask them directly what they know about Season 2 of Sh?gun:

"I definitely feel very proud of the work that we've done and very satisfied with the show as is," Gonzales said. "At the time of completing, when we were done cutting, there wasn't really any mention of, or any serious plans about a Season 2. And I think that's kind of where we're at still. I'm not sure if it will happen. Obviously, it's out of our hands [laughs]; we're the last people [to know]."

"Personally, I want to see Season 2!" Miyake added. "I have no idea."

"There's definitely plenty to build on, for sure," Gonzales continued. "All these characters were given their due, and it really feels like the show could keep living in that respect. It was really well done."

Would you like to see Sh?gun continue after Season 1? Let us know in the comments! The series is streaming on Hulu - as is It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia.

Bluey: Is the Series Over After Season 3? https://comicbook.com/tv-shows/news/bluey-series-ending-season-3-the-sign-future/ Mon, 15 Apr 2024 21:17:00 +0000 Charlie Ridgely b07a70b2-6ae1-4699-9ec1-f74b9b06182e

The most popular kids show on the entire planet just released its biggest -- and potentially most important -- episode on Sunday morning. Bluey's "The Sign" is a 28-minute special that runs four times longer than the usual Bluey episode, and it centers around a couple of pivotal moments in the lives of the Heeler family. There's an emotional through-line about change that does make it feel like "The Sign" could potentially be the ending of the entire series. After all, there has yet to be any announcement from Ludo or Australia's ABC about a Season 4 renewal.

Bluey is one of the biggest shows in the world right now, is it possible that it could actually end? Creator Joe Brumm and the team at Ludo have the final say, and perhaps they feel creatively fulfilled with where the show has ended up. Yes, Disney is ready to pay absurd amounts of money to make Bluey even bigger, but it's not in the Mouse House's hands quite yet.

Fans are starting to concerned after "The Sign" that we may have seen the final Bluey episode. There has been no renewal and the creative team has been open about the lengthy hiatus ahead. Nothing official is out there just yet, but Brumm and the rest of the team have spoken positively about the future.

Whether it's a movie or more seasons, Bluey is coming back in some form.

Sam Moor, a producer on the series, recently spoke to the BBC about what the future holds for Bluey following "The Sign." She confirmed that there is indeed more coming. The "where" and "when" are still being decided.

"No it is not the end for Bluey," Moor said. "I'm sure we have many more surprises in store for you. We have more in store and we are thinking what would be next."

Could that be a feature length movie? If "The Sign" was any indication, the team is ready for more long-form storytelling and could definitely make a film work.

"I'm loving going longer on 'The Sign,' and I'd love to try to go longer -- I definitely would not rule that out," Brumm told Deadline. "That's why I'm very interested to see how 'The Sign' goes down with the audience. Obviously it's four times as long as a normal episode. Will the audience accept a stint with a longer story?"

We don't know what's next for Bluey going forward, but we do know the beloved Australian dog and her family still have more stories to tell.

Monarch: Kurt Russell Admits He Had to Up His Game Acting Against His Son https://comicbook.com/anime/news/monarch-kurt-russell-wyatt-russell-acting/ Mon, 15 Apr 2024 20:57:00 +0000 Nick Valdez d7dd1e60-eb9e-437a-96c7-ec23c44801e0

Monarch: Legacy of Monsters featured the father and son duo of Kurt and Wyatt Russell playing the same character, and it turns out Kurt Russell felt like he needed to up his own acting game after seeing his son in action! Monarch: Legacy of Monsters introduced the two Russells as Lee Shaw, a U.S. Army colonel who was involved with the early investigations into Godzilla and other Titans, and years later ended up playing a much different role in the series. It was a fun twist as fans got to see the father and son playing the same character at different times, and the actors themselves got to inject it with a competitive energy.

Speaking with Deadline, it was explained that both Russells worked with different crews and different schedules during the production of Monarch: Legacy of Monsters, and the parallel work schedule allowed Kurt to see more of his son Wyatt in action, "We were doing two different crews and I said, 'I'm going to go check out and see Wyatt's group was doing,' " Kurt began. "It was fascinating for me because for the first time, this is my son - I'd known him all my life. He knew me his life, I was an actor."

Monarch: Kurt Russell Reveals Dynamic With Wyatt Russell

Continuing further, Kurt explained, "I'd watched him before and I'd been on sets of his and stuff, but in an appreciative sort of way. Now I was suddenly watching this character be laid down that I was going to be the other half of much later in life. And it was really fascinating." Elaborating, Kurt then explained that his own acting chops had to be raised for this as well, "I found myself watching this actor and I remember thinking, 'F*ck, man - this guy's good. I better get my game going here, because this can't fall down when it gets to my part of it."

As Kurt explained, the two Russells ended up collaborating on developing Lee Shaw as a more fleshed out character, ""When we came on, it was just a casting idea: Lee Shaw was in the maybe three or four shows that were being talked about at the time, was really a fifth or sixth character," Kurt revealed. "So we had to come up with a reason why Wyatt and I were going to do the show." Continuing further, "We thought it would be an interesting challenge to maybe do something that would help explain or be very indicative to the audience about what it was we were trying to do with Monarch," Kurt explained. "It was really the only place where Wyatt and I got to work together, because that was where we worked on what it was that that Lee Shaw was going to be. It was a lot of fun."

Velma will be making its return with Season 2 of the animated series later this month, and fans have gotten the first look at what to expect from the new episodes with its first trailer! Velma premiered to a divisive response among animation fans due to how differently of an experience it was from the original Scooby-Doo franchise it was inspired by, and it led to the series getting a whole new kind of buzz of its own as many rushed to the series to see what all of the talk was about (positive or otherwise). Now Season 2 will finally be following it all up.

Velma Season 2 was quickly confirmed to be in the works shortly after the release of the first season, and while that did have a divisive response from fans online of its own, it's time to finally see the new wave of episodes in action. Velma Season 2 will be making its debut later this month, and Max has dropped the very first trailer for this next batch of episodes showcasing how Velma's life has changed since the bloody mystery in the first season. Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sylvester Stallone Sit Down for Arnold & Sly Special https://comicbook.com/tv-shows/news/arnold-schwarzenegger-sylvester-stallone-arnold-sly-rivals-friends-icons-tmz/ Mon, 15 Apr 2024 20:06:00 +0000 Cameron Bonomolo 8001f008-a4c9-4513-b5fa-4fa565d7c631

Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sylvester Stallone are sharing the screen again -- but it's not a new Expendables movie. The Austrian Oak and the Italian Stallion's famed feud defined the 1980s as much as their respective runs on such iconic action films as Conan the Barbarian, The Terminator, Commando, Predator, and Rocky, Rambo, and Cobra. For the first time, the foes-turned-friends and co-stars are sitting down to discuss their blockbuster rivalry. Fox has released a sneak peek at TMZ Presents: Arnold & Sly: Rivals, Friends, Icons, a new special that will examine the Schwarzenegger-Stallone saga in their own words.

Fox describes the hour-long special: "TMZ exclusively sits down with Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sylvester Stallone as they discuss for the first time how their once-fierce rivalry led to two Hollywood icons forever being friends and brothers in arms." Arnold & Sly: Rivals, Friends, Icons airs April 23 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on Fox and will be available to watch the next day on Hulu.

After investing in and promoting the Planet Hollywood restaurant chain in the 1990s, Schwarzenegger and Stallone went on to appear together in 2010's The Expendables and two sequels, 2012's Expendables 2 and 2014's Expendables 3. They co-headlined the 2013 movie Escape Plan, and Schwarzenegger recently appeared on Stallone's Paramount+ reality series The Family Stallone.

During an October appearance on The Graham Norton Show, Schwarzenegger admitted that his rivalry with Stallone "got out of control" when they were competing as No. 1 action star in the '80s and '90s.

"We were movie rivals, but we took the competitiveness to the extreme - we each had to have the best body, we had to kill more people in our films and we had to have the biggest guns," Schwarzenegger said. "It got out of control and we tried to derail each other."

"Then when we both invested in Planet Hollywood, we started flying around the world together to promote it and we became fantastic friends," he added. "He is a great human being and we are now inseparable."

Schwarzenegger and Stallone have since released their own documentaries -- the three-episode docuseries Arnold, and the feature-length documentary film Sly -- on Netflix. In 2022, Stallone told Forbes that he and Schwarzenegger "really disliked each other immensely" before their rivarly developed into friendship.

"This may sound a little vain, but I think we were pioneering a kind of genre at that time and it hasn't been seen since really," Stallone said at the time of their macho action movies. "So the competition, because it's his nature, he is very competitive and so am I... and I just thought it actually helped, but off-screen we were still competitive and that was not a healthy thing at all, but we've become really good friends."

TMZ Presents: Arnold & Sly: Rivals, Friends, Icons is executive produced by Harvey Levin, Ryan Regan, Don Nash, Charles Latibeaudiere and Jess Fusco, with co-executive producer Susan Favre. The special premieres April 23 on Fox.

Scott Pilgrim Takes Off Creator Isn't a Fan of Streaming Dumps https://comicbook.com/anime/news/scott-pilgrim-takes-off-streaming-weekly-binge/ Mon, 15 Apr 2024 19:52:00 +0000 Megan Peters 8fae6e39-6999-437e-8077-433804fcb2d2

Last fall, the world was reintroduced to the world of Scott Pilgrim, and the show was like nothing we've seen before. The IP jumped to Netflix with help of series creator Bryan Lee O'Malley at the helm. They teamed with BenDavid Grabinski to bring Scott Pilgrim into the world of anime. And following its binge debut, Grabinski is hashing out their distaste of streaming's dumpy schedule.

Taking to X (Twitter), Grabinski confessed they were hardly a fan of how streaming services like Netflix tend to release show and seasons all at once. "As someone who had his whole season drop all at once at the same time, it's the dumbest sh-t ever. There's literally no upside. Imagine if the whole season of X-MEN 97 was out," they posted.

Continuing, the show creator revealed they wanted Scott Pilgrim Takes Off to have a slow release. Grabinski said he would have liked Netflix to release two episodes for a four-week run. But in the end, the streaming service chose to launch the whole season at once.

Of course, it seems Grabinski was hardly a fan of the release schedule, and he is far from the only person icked by the format. In the past decade, netizens have become more critical of how TV series are released online. From Disney+ to Amazon and Hulu, some series find themselves hit with weekly releases while others are dumped all at once or even in batches. The inconsistency seems to have rankled consumers as the war between big binges and weekly updates wages on.

As for Scott Pilgrim Takes Off, the award-winning anime earned solid praise upon launch, but Grabinski believes the show would've sustained conversation online if it released slower. Other anime series have suffered similar fates as Netflix such as JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Stone Ocean. But thanks to recent releases like Delicious in Dungeon, there's hope Netflix has found a better schedule to release its animated projects.

Do you back weekly releases for streaming? Or does the binge method work best? Let us know what you think in the comments below as well as on Twitter and Instagram. You can also hit me up @MeganPetersCB to share your take!

Reginald the Vampire Returns for Season 2 Trailer on SYFY https://comicbook.com/horror/news/reginald-vampire-season-2-trailer-syfy/ Mon, 15 Apr 2024 19:20:00 +0000 Kofi Outlaw a10f713d-f19b-4fc6-a924-d314a7cde208

Reginald the Vampire Season 2 is coming to SYFY - and you can watch the very first trailer for it here!

Marvel's Spider-Man Trilogy star Jacob Batalon stars as Reginald the Vampire, in a dramedy that has "a lot of heart and just enough blood" and "proves the undead life is just as complicated as life itself." The series "turns traditional vampire tropes on their head while draining the blood from modern-day beauty standards."

Reginald the Vampire co-stars Mandela Van Peebles, Savannah Basley, Em Haine, Aren Buchholz, Marguerite Hanna, and Thailey Roberge.

"The only thing better than getting the opportunity to make a season of television with Syfy is to get the opportunity to do it again," series creator and executive producer Harley Peyton shared in a statement when Season 2 was announced. "All of us - cast and crew, writers, producers - can hardly wait."

Batalon also shared the news in his Instagram stories, writing, "We're back, baby."

What Is Reginald The Vampire Season 2 About?

Reginald Andres finally got his life together - when he was turned into a vampire. While he doesn't fit into the stereotypical expectations of what a vampire looks like - he's not chiseled or classically handsome - Reginald has found his place amongst an unlikely cohort that includes the cool vampire who sired him, the former vampire chieftain turned unexpected ally (or is she?), and his co-worker/former girlfriend. A show with a lot of heart and just enough blood, "Reginald the Vampire" proves the undead life is just as complicated as life itself.

The series stars Jacob Batalon ("Spider-Man: No Way Home", Em Haine ("Chilling Adventures of Sabrina"), Mandela Van Peebles ("Mayor of Kingstown"), Savannah Basley ("SurrealEstate")

Harley Peyton ("Chucky") serves as executive producer and showrunner, with Jeremiah Chechik, Todd Berger, Lindsay Macadam, Brett Burlock and Peter Emerson, also serving as executive producers.

When ComicBook.com spoke to Jacob Batalon a few years back, he talked about stepping into his own starring role, after playing the 'guy in the chair' sidekick to Tom Holland's Spider-man for three films:

"I feel like I wasn't really looking for advice. I feel like TH [Tom Holland] is very much a supportive person of me, obviously my brother for life," Batalon explained. "But I feel like this was a journey that I had to take on my own. I think that was my journey." He added, "I watched a lot of great successful people work and operate on movie sets. I feel like I learned a lot from watching and understanding ... Without their example for me to follow, I wouldn't know where to begin."

Reginald the Vampire is produced by Great Pacific Media Inc., Modern Story Company, December Films and Cineflix Studios and executive produced by Harley Peyton, Jeremiah Chechik, Todd Berger, Lindsay Macadam, Brett Burlock and Peter Emerson. The series is based on the book series by Johnny B. Truant.

Season 2 premieres on SYFY on May 8th.

Disney+ Reportedly Introducing 24/7 Streaming Channels https://comicbook.com/tv-shows/news/disney-plus-24-7-streaming-channels-marvel-star-wars-fast/ Mon, 15 Apr 2024 19:05:00 +0000 Cameron Bonomolo 588ae46d-f5b1-4ab8-ba6e-39124e390956

Cord-cutters could soon have the cable experience on Disney+. The streaming service is reportedly planning to launch always-on channels dedicated to such brands as Marvel and Star Wars, according to The Information. Disney+ subscribers would be able to tune into the 24/7 channels featuring programming from Disney brands already available on the service -- like Pixar and National Geographic -- or watch a continuous stream of animated Disney movies. Unlike typical FAST platforms -- free, ad-supported streaming TV channels like Pluto TV and Tubi -- the Disney+ channels would require a subscription, according to the report.

FAST channels are popular for offering consumers access to content free of charge -- as long as like they're willing to watch advertisements like on traditional television. The Information reports that Disney+'s always-on channels will likely contain ads.

Other services, like NBCUniversal's Peacock and AMC's Shudder, already offer a constant stream of thematically programmed content, and Amazon's premium free streaming service Freevee features a selection of 24/7 channels through Prime Video.

With streaming subscriptions seeing regular price hikes, viewers are consuming more and more FAST content. Last week, Bloomberg reported that FAST services like Tubi account for more viewership than paid streamers Peacock, Max, and Apple TV+, and could potentially outpace Disney+. Another benefit of FAST? Viewers can tune into random episodes rather than have to choose from a seemingly infinite supply of on-demand choices.

In another effort to cycle back to cable and traditional television, Disney and the combined Disney+/Hulu app will start cracking down on password sharing to prevent subscribers from giving access to accounts outside of their household. Earlier in April, Disney CEO Bob Iger revealed the company will begin rolling out paid sharing plans this summer.

"In June, we'll be launching our first real foray into password-sharing," Iger said on CNBC's Squawk on the Street. Iger added that the Hulu and Disney+ password-sharing crackdown will begin with "just a few countries and a few markets, and then it will grow significantly with a full rollout in September."

Star Wars: The Acolyte Aims to Outdo Lightsaber Fights From The Phantom Menace https://comicbook.com/starwars/news/star-wars-the-acolyte-lightsaber-fights-dafne-keen-phantom-menace/ Mon, 15 Apr 2024 18:33:00 +0000 Patrick Cavanaugh fef70235-1757-4fdc-aaaf-14ff720685ce

Each Star Wars story aims to push elements of the franchise to new heights, and with the upcoming live-action series Star Wars: The Acolyte, star Dafne Keen claims the show could set the bar for what is possible with lightsaber combat, even surpassing the accomplishments of Star Wars: The Phantom Menace. With that film's finale featuring Obi-Wan Kenobi and Qui-Gon Jinn taking on Darth Maul in an intense and highly acrobatic conflict, many audiences consider that duel to be the most impressive in the whole franchise, but that conflict will seemingly pale in comparison to what The Acolyte unleashes. Star Wars: The Acolyte is set to premiere on Disney+ on June 4th.

"Yeah, that was a very frequent conversation we had," Keen shared with Entertainment Weekly about the showdown in The Phantom Menace. "It was very much: We want to top the Darth Maul fight -- the most iconic fight, I think, in the Star Wars cinematic universe. It's such an amazing fight and we were all so excited about the saber fights. There's such a skill and a craft to it that it feels so OG Star Wars and feels so impressive when you see it as a viewer."

In regards to the excitement of getting to wield a lightsaber, Keen continued, "It was my favorite part of filming. I loved the whole training process of it. Everyone was very excited about it, which then made it much more fun. Our incredible stunt team created this kind of fusion of different martial arts and we were really trained in how to use the sabers. I feel very comfortable with a sword now, and I know that Charlie [Barnett] does too, and I know that [Lee Jung-jae] does too. We were all in there for hours a day training, and it was really fun to kind of explore also a different side to the characters within the fighting."

When it comes to the more action-packed elements of the Star Wars franchise, all corners of the galaxy far, far away have offered opportunities to explore intense aerial combat, but with The Acolyte unfolding during the era of The High Republic, Keen's comments imply an emphasis on intimate showdowns as opposed to bombastic battles.

In Star Wars: The Acolyte, an investigation into a shocking crime spree pits a respected Jedi Master (Lee Jung-jae) against a dangerous warrior from his past (Amandla Stenberg). As more clues emerge, they travel down a dark path where sinister forces reveal all is not what it seems....

The series stars Amandla Stenberg, Lee Jung-jae, Manny Jacinto, Dafne Keen, Charlie Barnett, Jodie Turner-Smith, Rebecca Henderson, Dean-Charles Chapman, Joonas Suotamo, and Carrie-Anne Moss.

Star Wars: The Acolyte premieres on Disney+ on June 4th.

Detective Conan Shocks Fans by Obliterating One of Its Top Ships https://comicbook.com/anime/news/detective-conan-anime-romance-ship/ Mon, 15 Apr 2024 18:08:00 +0000 Megan Peters 19c2ea19-4a93-4f37-a2fa-f82404b1c53d

Detective Conan makes no apologies for how big it has become. Over the past decades, creator Gosho Aoyama has kept a tight vision for the series, and its thrilling tale has earned fans the world over. In Asia, Detective Conan has been a massive hit since day one, and the series is starting to get its due stateside. But for new fans, well - they are a little confused as to why Detective Conan diehards are irate over a recent ship sinking.

The whole thing came to light this year as Detective Conan put forward its 27th film. The feature is now screening in Japan and breaking box office records. Detective Conan: The Million-Dollar Pentagram puts Kaito and Conan to the test as sleuths. And before the movie ends, we learn one of the series' most popular ships has been incestual this whole time.

As it turns out, Kaito and Shinichi are related and rather closely. The two are first cousins as their fathers were actually twins. Separated from birth and adopted, the two men had families of their own. Kaito and Shinichi did not know about their familial tie until now, and as you can imagine, the fandom is quaking. The Kaishin ship is one of the biggest in Detective Conan, and some fans have been loyal to the ship for decades now.

When it comes to romances and ships, things are never easy with fans, but this Detective Conan reveal has caught the Internet by surprise. Kaishin is a pretty prevalent thing in the Detective Conan fanbase. Now, the community is reeling from the movie's reveal, and it is hard to fault the reaction.

If you are not familiar with Detective Conan, the series is ongoing both in print and on screen. You can watch much of the TV anime on Crunchyroll as well as Tube and Amazon Prime. So for those wanting to know more about thrilling anime, you can read its official synopsis below:

"Jimmy Kudo's the best detective on the beat, and his skills have earned him deadly enemies. When an assassination attempt transforms Jimmy into a little kid, he uses his new cover to track down his assailants as boy detective Conan Edogawa!"

The Western genre has been a hit on screens both big and small for decades, but as proven in Prime Video's Outer Range, by injecting that familiar premise with some ambitious sci-fi concepts, you can explore all-new storytelling realms, which is exactly what a trailer for Season 2 is teasing. What started in Season 1 as a mystery full of limitless potential will result in finally getting some substantial answers in Season 2, though it looks like those answers will only lead to even more unexplained events as the story progresses. You can check out the trailer for Season 2 of Outer Range below before it premieres on Prime Video on May 16th.

Per press release, "Today, Prime Video released the official trailer and key art for the highly anticipated second season of the genre-bending neo-Western, Outer Range. Outer Range Season 2 comes from showrunner and executive producer Charles Murray (True Story, Sons of Anarchy), with all seven episodes dropping on Thursday, May 16th, exclusively on Prime Video in more than 240 countries and territories worldwide."

Star Trek Discovery: Doug Jones, David Ajala Talks Season 5's Challenging Romances https://comicbook.com/startrek/news/star-trek-discovery-doug-jones-david-ajala-challenging-romances-season-5/ Mon, 15 Apr 2024 15:24:00 +0000 Timothy Adams e13499a6-d568-4130-8099-7ead230ee081

Star Trek: Discovery stars Doug Jones and David Ajala discuss some of the complicated relationships and romances that develop during Season 5. The fifth and final season of Star Trek: Discovery kicked off earlier this month, reminding viewers why now is a good time to be a Star Trek fan. The next theatrically-released Star Trek movie is set to begin filming this fall, with a 2025 release date, and there are other Star Trek projects on the horizon to look forward to. But a topic that Star Trek: Discovery fans will be curious about is the romances between the show's cast.

ComicBook.com spoke to Doug Jones and David Ajala ahead of the debut of Star Trek: Discovery Season 5, where we got to ask them about the romances and relationships their characters face. Commander Saru actor Doug Jones replied, "It is a challenge, yes. A romance has a challenge to it, especially when you're so career-driven as both Saru and President T'Rina, who plays my love interest, both are. We're both at a certain level of responsibility, and how do we carry forward with those responsibilities and those careers, while also finding each other in a romantic way for the first time for both of us. I don't think either of these people have ever had a romance in their lifetimes before. This is both new and awkward for them. They're kind of like teenagers, but they're also trying to hold their dignity together while doing so. That's the challenge."

Star Trek: Discovery stars open up on romances in Season 5

Jones also talked about how Saru is up for a promotion, and has to factor in his feelings for T'Rina while also thinking about whether to take the promotion. For her part, T'Rina has said not to let their feelings for each other be a determining factor in his decision.

"I think that's a really important point Doug mentioned," Cleveland Booker actor David Ajala chimed in. "It's explored in a similar but different way with Michael Burnham. There's this episode in Season 5 where Michael Burnham has to arrive at a place and do some real soul-searching work to understand her purpose. Because she's lived a life that's very binary, where it's career-oriented and there's no room for being weak or to be seen not knowing the answers, and then she goes to a period in her life where she has to unpack these things and understand all these things can exist equally and together."

He added, "For me, that's a very powerful thing I'm looking forward to everyone seeing. And Book plays an important part in that specific episode, with Michael soul-searching."

Star Trek: Discovery Season 5 is now streaming on Paramount+.

Euphoria Star Shares Season 3 Time Jump Hopes https://comicbook.com/tv-shows/news/euphoria-star-shares-season-3-time-jump-hopes/ Mon, 15 Apr 2024 10:59:00 +0000 Russ Burlingame 4cd44d03-00ad-4ca1-9006-579f4c8a075e

It may be a while before audiences get a third season of HBO's Euphoria -- the fan-favorite series is developing so slowly that the actors were recently released from their obligation, they can to work on other projects -- but actor Hunter Schafer actually hopes the show reflects that a little bit. Part of the reason for the delay is that producers haven't yet landed on which iteration of the season they want to commit to. Apparently, there were a number of options, including one that would include a five-year time jump. The time jump idea would help bring the characters more in line with the actors who actually play them, as well as fundamentally changing the dynamic, considering the series itself centers on high schoolers. Five years would take them to the end of a four-year college experience, reshaping the world around them.

Schafer wouldn't go so far as to endorse the time jump rumor, but she says she can understand that appeal -- not least of all because they could get back to the dark world of the show without imagining that her character has had an utterly joyless and self-destructive high school life.

"The past two seasons have been pretty rough on Jules," Schafer told Variety when they brought up the time jump idea. "So I just hope she's gotten to chill out and be a regular teenage girl."

"HBO and Sam Levinson remain committed to making an exceptional third season," the network said when delays were announced. "In the interim, we are allowing our in-demand cast to pursue other opportunities."

"[Sam is] a person who writes and rewrites and writes and rewrites again, because I think he's wrestling with what's important," Colman Domingo recently explained. "He's responding immediately to what the ills of the world are. I know that the one thing I can tell you is that he's very much interested in the existential question of who we are right now. Our souls. That's what he wants to figure out with Season 3."

Here's how the series is described by HBO:

Euphoria is a drama series follows a group of high school students as they navigate drugs, sex, identity, trauma, social media, love, and friendship. Season 2 of the series premiered in 2022, so with two years having passed, fans have been speculating about how the third season would handle the characters looking significantly older.

The program served as the breakout opportunity for stars like Zendaya, Jacob Elordi, and Sydney Sweeney, all of whom have been getting involved with various high-profile projects. Another series from Euphoria creator, The Idol was released last year to scathing reviews and cancelled after just one season.

You can see the first two seasons of Euphoria on Max.

HBO's The Last of Us Wins Best New Series at 2024 Writers Guild Awards https://comicbook.com/tv-shows/news/the-last-of-us-best-new-series-wga-awards/ Mon, 15 Apr 2024 05:00:00 +0000 Adam Barnhardt 59dbfd85-3920-4609-a525-af81399cd648

Now over a year after it first hit Max, The Last of Us continues adding awards to its hardware case. The latest such award comes from the 2024 Writers Guild of America Awards, where the Craig Mazin-created series walked away with Best New Series. The series beat out The Diplomat, Jury Duty, Poker Face, and Shrinking to win the award.

It's far from the first major award The Last of Us has won over the past year, with the HBO series also winning big at the Emmys, Critics' Choice Awards, and Screen Actors Guild Awards. That's all on top of the tremendous success it found in the television ratings while airing, where it quickly became the highest-rated video game television adaptation of all time.

The series is now shooting principal photography for its Second Season on HBO and Max, a batch of episodes series lead Pedro Pascal calls "amazing."

"Filming is going amazing. It's sort of awe-inspiring the kind of focus and dedication that everyone has going into Season 2," Pascal said to Deadline earlier this year. "It's incredible to be back home with them and creatively and everybody, our entire crew, they're working harder than I could even imagine, even harder than our first season which is close to impossible. [...] Stepping into those boots again, it feels strangely brand new. I've never done anything like this before that has such original authorship before I ever got to it."

Both Pascal and Bella Ramsey are returning to reprise their wildly-beloved roles for the shows first season. Joining them will be a new cast that includes Kaitlyn Dever (Abby), Young Mazino (Jesse), Isabela Merced (Dina), and Catherina O'Hara (unknown). Season 2 is then being helmed by Craig Mazin in tandem with Neil Druckmann, who is the writer and director of both The Last of Us and The Last of Us Part II.

The first season of The Last of Us is now streaming on Max while the second season has yet to set a release date.

Taylor Swift Responds to Ryan Gosling's SNL Monologue https://comicbook.com/tv-shows/news/taylor-swift-responds-to-ryan-gosling-snl-monologue/ Mon, 15 Apr 2024 02:43:00 +0000 Spencer Perry 523180a4-f2d2-42df-91af-07412b62e570

Saturday Night Live was hosted by The Fall Guy star Ryan Gosling this week, and the actor wasted no time cementing his place as a fan-favorite when he channeled Taylor Swift in his opening monologue. Gosling began to play his own version of Taylor Swift's "All Too Well," all about his time playing Ken in the Barbie movie and how stepping into the role was very intense for him, resulting in his need to "break up" with Ken. Now, Taylor Swift herself has actually responded to the song, writing in a post on X (formerly Twitter), "All Too Well (Ryan and Emily's Version) !!! Watch me accidentally catch myself singing this version on tour. This monologue is EVERYTHING ????." You can watch the monologue above.

"It's great to be back hosting SNL," Gosling said in the start of his monologue. "I'm here because of my new movie, The Fall Guy with Emily Blunt! So don't worry. I'm not going to make any jokes About Ken because it's not funny. Ken and I, we had to break up. We went too deep. And it's over. So I'm not gonna talk about it...I actually am gonna talk about it a little bit. I have to. You know when you play a character that hard, that long just letting go just feels like a breakup. And for processing a breakup, There's really only one thing That can help, the music of the Great Taylor Swift."

Gosling's song and dance was interrupted by his The Fall Guy co-star Emily Blunt however, who noted that they had an entirely different plan to promote their upcoming movie, and it didn't include singing about Ken again. This erupted into Blunt hitting Gosling over the head with a breakaway bottle and a breakaway chair, and ended with both singing about their respective movies from last summer, Barbie, Oppenheimer, and the Barbenheimer craze.

Saturday Night Live Season 49 is ongoing now with new episodes airing on both NBC and Peacock, starting Saturdays at 11:30 PM ET. All 48 seasons of Saturday Night Live are also now streaming on Peacock.

True Detective Showrunner Issa Lopez Teases Season 5 https://comicbook.com/tv-shows/news/true-detective-season-5-tease-issa-lopez-hbo-series-ennis-alaska/ Mon, 15 Apr 2024 01:06:00 +0000 Charlie Ridgely 1311a1d1-b18b-4d2c-8565-677e9ed2edc5

True Detective: Night Country, the fourth season in the beloved crime series, arrived on HBO earlier this year and brought the title back to a level of prominence that has been missing since its very first installment 10 years ago. It should come as no surprise after seeing that critical and commercial success that, not only is the show returning for a fifth season, but Night Country showrunner Issa L?pez will be back to once again lead the next installment.

Every season of True Detective to this point has followed a new story in a new location, with Night Country taking place in the fictional town of Ennis, Alaska. Unlike other seasons, however, Night Country had a lot of direct ties and references to previous installments (mainly Season 1). So, with L?pez back in the driver's seat, will Season 5 tied back to the story of Ennis in some way?

During a Deadline TV Contenders panel for the series, L?pez was asked that exact question. She played about as coy as you'd expect. "It might, or not, be connected to Ennis," L?pez said. "We will see."

Odds suggest that, while there may be connections, True Detective Season 5 will be in a new place with new characters, just as the other seasons before it. After all, there's a lot ambiguity surrounding the fate of one of Night Country's lead characters.

Navarro, the character played by Kali Reis, walked out into the night in the final minutes of the season, seemingly disappearing into the ether, but she appeared alongside Jodie Foster's Danvers in the very last shot. This has led to all sorts of theories about whether or not the character is still alive.

"I'm not saying that she's alive, and I'm certainly not saying that she's dead," L?pez told Deadline in an interview about the finale. "I very carefully crafted this as an ink blot test for you to discover yourself as an audience member. I do love that Navarro states very early in the series that she has this impulse to just walk away and leave everything behind. On the other hand, the entire series is an exploration of the fact that she feels a calling to the beyond.

"In the climax of the finale, and instead of fighting it and going in with pain and fear, she surrenders to it. And in doing it, she receives a piece of herself. So that call that she was afraid of is solved. The Aboriginal people in Australia go and walk about, find themselves and then come back, which I think is what Kali [Reis] embraced [for the character]. However, there is a chance that she is also going to be with the women before her visit to them. You can read it both ways and it's up to you to interpret which one fulfills your heart."

Tracker Recap With Spoilers: "Camden" https://comicbook.com/tv-shows/news/tracker-recap-spoilers-camden-episode-8-cbs/ Mon, 15 Apr 2024 01:00:00 +0000 Charlie Ridgely 61b4cb3b-5752-4bd6-aad1-d7cb2eb90ab6

After taking a week off, CBS' newest hit series is back with a brand new episode. Sunday night's episode of Tracker is the eighth edition of the show's freshman season, this time sending Colter Shaw up to Camden, Maine for a new case. In "Camden," Colter works to find a missing dockworker who disappeared just two weeks before his wedding. WARNING: This article contains complete spoilers for Tracker's latest episode...

"Camden" begins with a young man in the woods, having clearly just been an accident and is presumably at fault. An unseen companion encourages him to leave the scene behind. Colter arrives in Camden, Maine with a new job, as a woman put a $10,000 reward on her missing fiancee. The man in the picture, Ethan Sullivan, is the man we just saw in the woods. Sullivan worked the night shift at the docks a couple of nights ago and hasn't been seen since. He's supposed to get married in a couple of weeks and Colter thinks maybe Sully has cold feet. The family, however, feels differently. Sully doesn't use a smart phone like most other people so getting a hold of him has been a challenge. His fiancee, Daniela, says that Sully had troubles with the law when he was younger but that he's been a "changed man" as he's gotten older.

Daniela's father isn't a big fan of Sully because of his checkered past. The dad doesn't believe a person can change, but there's not any evidence to support his concerns. The sheriff calls to report that Sully's car was found overturned in the woods, where we saw Sully at the beginning of the episode. Shaw finds a necklace in the car and it doesn't belong to Daniela. There's a spot of blood in the car but Colter notices that it didn't come from the accident itself. A sandbag from the driver's side makes it seem like the car was dumped on purpose. The sheriff talks with Colter about the difficult situation facing the town, especially the crime that has spiked with the workers lately. Colter believes someone named Ryan Hopkins could be involved, as they had a disagreement recently and he was calling Sully a lot before his disappearance.

With some help from Bobby, Colter tracks Ryan Hopkins down at the docks. Ryan says that he and Sully didn't have any issues, that he had been asking Sully for help getting some odds jobs at the dock where he works. Bobby finds some information about an ex-girlfriend of Sully's, Simone, who lives close to where the car was found and had calls to Sully recently. Colter shows up to her house to find it broken into and Simone dead on the floor.

While searching Simone's place, they find illustrations of the pendant that was found in the car. Colter thinks it wouldn't make sense for Sully to be the killer, since he wouldn't have had to break in. He heads to the restaurant where Sully likely met Simone before he went missing. The bartender says the two of them were there together and there didn't seem to be any issues between them when they left. A younger guy working at the bar seems to know a little more about things, though. He tells Colter a couple of guys came in after Sully. One of the guys, Clem, was "pretty scary" and just recently got out of prison. The guys left not long after Sully and Simone. When Colter leaves, the bartender -- Tiffany -- calls someone and tells them that people are looking for Sully.

Colter accompanies the sheriff to Clem's house to ask about Sully. An open window gives Colter a way into the house. A knocked-over chair with duct tape on the arms alludes to someone having been held captive. Colter finds out that Sully was the lookout on the botched robbery that got Clem sent to prison for four years. Sully got off with just a probation.

Tiffany leaves the cafe and heads to the docks, but she doesn't know that Colter is trailing her. He sees Clem let Tiffany inside a shed, followed by Ryan Hopkins exiting. Ryan heads over to a van where Sully is waiting. Sully, clearly beaten, is handed a gun and Clem joins them before the van drives out. Colter takes a photo of the men meeting and shows it to Daniela, who believes something deeper is going on, and that Sully isn't the criminal that the information is making him out to be. Daniela explains to Colter that Sully had been moonlighting as a security guard at King's Warehouse, picking up extra work to earn more money before the wedding. The warehouse is closed for maintenance for a few days but Sully still has access, and that's the place Ryan had been asking Sully about getting work. The facility is known for handling lobster coming in and out of Camden, but Colter believes they might be pushing something else through there.

According to Bobby, Sully's keycard just scanned into the warehouse, so Colter heads over there to find out what's going on. He knocks out Ryan and ties him up in the van, then finds an employee on the ground who had been hit by the robbery crew. Colter calls the sheriff for backup before heading into King's Warehouse. Inside, he finds Clem measuring drugs and loading the bags into lobster coolers -- just as he expected. Someone is in the warehouse office, holding Sully at gunpoint and forcing him to turn the cameras off. Sully explains that Clem set up the entire situation with Simone to make it look like he was cheating on Daniela, buying them time to steal the drugs from the warehouse. They told Sully they'd been following Daniela and would kill her if he didn't cooperate. Sully takes the other man's gun and heads downstairs to kill Clem, trying to lock Colter behind him.

As Sully is about to kill Clem, Colter hops down to try and talk him out of it. Sully believes his past has caught up to him and will continue to do so unless he kills Clem, but Colter convinces him that Sully will get what he deserves. He lets Clem go and the police are waiting outside the door to take him back to prison. The sheriff tells Sully that there's enough on Clem to put him away for life. He also apologizes to Sully for misjudging him. Daniela's dad seems to finally come around on Sully after the case closes. Colter gives him the pendant that was found in the car, and he explains that Simone had made it for him to give to Daniela as a wedding gift.

Robert Kirkman: The Walking Dead Animated Series Can't Happen "Until I Get the Rights Back From AMC" https://comicbook.com/tv-shows/news/the-walking-dead-animated-series-rights-amc-robert-kirkman/ Sun, 14 Apr 2024 23:15:00 +0000 Cameron Bonomolo fe03dc36-a8d9-4b2b-baab-f4f1f24ec676

The Walking Dead won't be reanimated anytime soon. Even before creator Robert Kirkman and Prime Video collaborated on adult animated superhero show Invincible, fans have been hoping to sink their teeth into an animated adaptation of the Skybound/Image comic by Kirkman, Tony Moore, and Charlie Adlard. Kirkman has been receptive to the idea of a "faithful" animated version of the black-and-white zombie comic that spanned 193 issues and spawned a live-action Walking Dead Universe at AMC, but it seems the network isn't biting.

"I'd love to see it happen someday, but I don't think it'll be possible until I get the rights back from AMC," Kirkman wrote in response to a fan who asked about a Walking Dead animated show in the "Letter Hacks" column of The Walking Dead Deluxe #85. Skybound's TWD editor Amanda LaFranco added: "There's definitely been developments over the years for something like this, and there's a lot of fans over here that would still very much love to make that happen."

In 2010, the network released an eight-minute, "fully-animated" motion comic adapting 13 pages from The Walking Dead #1 by Kirkman and artist Tony Moore. AMC also dabbled with comic-style animation in an animated segment of the webisode series The Walking Dead: Red Machete. AMC's Walking Dead Universe chief content officer Scott M. Gimple has expressed interest in using animation in potential future episodes of anthology spinoff Tales of the Walking Dead, but the franchise has so far only dabbled with the format.

AMC acquired the rights to the graphic novel in 2009 in one of the largest development deals the network ever closed. The Walking Dead debuted in 2010 from series developer and showrunner Frank Darabont, who served as executive producer with Gale Anne Hurd, David Alpert, and Kirkman. The Darabont-directed AMC Original series premiere marked the largest audience for any original series on the network, and delivered the highest ratings in the key 18-49 demographic for any cable series premiere in 2010. AMC's Walking Dead was the #1 series on basic cable for 12 consecutive years when it ended its 11-season run after 177 episodes in 2022.

In March, Kirkman and four other Walking Dead executive producers -- Hurd, Alpert, Charles Eglee, and former showrunner Glen Mazzara -- saw a victory in their 2022 profits-sharing suit against the network when a federal judge denied AMC's motion to have the case dismissed. (After first filing suit in 2017, and after Darabont was awarded $200 million in his separate profit participation lawsuit in 2021, the executive producers sued a second time in a suit arguing they were "entitled to a payment well over $200 million from AMC.")

Along with since-ended spinoffs Fear the Walking Dead and The Walking Dead: World Beyond, AMC continued The Walking Dead with the spinoffs The Walking Dead: Dead City (starring Lauren Cohan's Maggie and Jeffrey Dean Morgan's Negan), The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon (starring Norman Reedus), and The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live (starring Andrew Lincoln's Rick Grimes and Danai Gurira's Michonne). Dead City season 2 and Daryl Dixon season 2, also starring Melissa McBride as Carol, are currently in the works at AMC.

My Hero Academia Paved the Way for Anime's Recent Boom, Says Toho CEO https://comicbook.com/anime/news/my-hero-academia-anime-toho-global-popularity/ Sun, 14 Apr 2024 21:36:00 +0000 Megan Peters a49d74d4-1423-4eea-a9ce-74a4507140ce

Decades ago, anime was seen as a niche interest by the world at large, but that is no longer the case. Whether in Japan or America, anime is seen as a major contender in the entertainment world. From film to television, series like Demon Slayer and Jujutsu Kaisen have become huge hits. And in a recent interview, the CEO of Toho admitted they credit My Hero Academia with revitalizing anime's global surge.

The admission came from VIPO as the publication spoke with Hiroyasu Matsuoka, the CEO of Toho. It was there the exec admitted the company really struggled to find a global foothold, but My Hero Academia shifted all of that.

"Back then, I was in charge of overseas development at the time, and global distribution companies began to talk with me daily for negotiations. They desperately wanted to get their hands on My Hero Academia. We noticed distributors were raising their offers even when their previous ones were still under review. Plus, rival companies were also entering the market and driving up the price further with impressive numbers."

Continuing, Matsuoka said the bidding war behind My Hero Academia helped Toho view its anime licensing strategies differently. "[My Hero Academia] helped us recognize the potential for anime to succeed overseas, so we began to focus on expanding our business overseas. Of course, we needed to still address the domestic market, so given how motivated we were about expanding anime overseas, we didn't miss out the current anime boom. We already had built a network, so we were able to oversee titles such as Jujutsu Kaisen, Frieren: Beyond Journey's End, and The Apothecary Diaries."

As you can imagine, Toho is doing pretty well these days. Anime interest is surging globally thanks to streaming, and manga is rising just the same in sales. From Dragon Ball to My Hero Academia, the industries have welcomed their share of game changers over the years. So now, all eyes are on the future as anime committees hunt for the next big thing. Hits like Solo Leveling are on the rise, and there are other big shows like Kaiju No. 8 stirring buzz online.

Solo Leveling Dub Nails the Anime's Epic Arise Scene: Watch https://comicbook.com/anime/news/solo-leveling-anime-arise-english-dub/ Sun, 14 Apr 2024 21:13:00 +0000 Megan Peters 8d218212-785d-407c-9b0e-42d5127578ba

Solo Leveling season one may be over, but the show is living on with fans this year. Despite its single cour order, the webtoon adaptation is a top contender for anime of the year. A-1 Pictures spared no expense when it came to bringing Solo Leveling to life, and now, the anime's English dub is matching levels with its epic finale.

As you can see below, the season one finale of Solo Leveling just launched dubbed, and it is nothing short of impressive. The ADR and scripting for the Crunchyroll dub has been praised since day one, and of course, Aleks Le gets special praise. The English voice actor has been crushing his role as Jinwoo, and that work came to a head in the finale.

After all, the season one finale features Jinwoo's 'Arise' scene. The moment was pivotal in the anime's original dub, so expectations for Le were high. Clearly, the actor pulled together a truly epic performance for Jinwoo, so netizens can chill about the dub's big finale.

After all, the lead actors behind Solo Leveling are consummate professionals. Taito Ban, the Japanese actor behind Jinwoo, made headlines before the anime launched as reports revealed he worked his voice hard enough to spit blood. It turns out Le followed in those footsteps as the actor confessed his throat also took a beating from the role. So as Solo Leveling pushed forward with its dub finale, there was no doubt Le was going to nail Jinwoo's 'Arise' revelation.

If you are not caught up with Solo Leveling, you can always check out its original webtoon on Tapas. As for the anime, Crunchyroll is airing all of season one, and Solo Leveling season two has already been announced. So for more info on the series, you can read its official synopsis below:

"Known as the Weakest Hunter of All Mankind, E-rank hunter Jinwoo Sung's contribution to raids amounts to trying not to get killed. Unfortunately, between his mother's hospital bills, his sister's tuition, and his own lack of job prospects, he has no choice but to continue to put his life on the line. So when an opportunity arises for a bigger payout, he takes it...only to come face-to-face with a being whose power outranks anything he's ever seen! With the party leader missing an arm and the only healer a quivering mess, can Jinwoo some-how find them a way out?"

Star Trek: Lower Decks Star Jack Quaid Hopes the Show Finds New Home https://comicbook.com/tv-shows/news/star-trek-lower-decks-jack-quaid-hopes-to-do-more/ Sun, 14 Apr 2024 21:01:00 +0000 Adam Barnhardt 9471726f-a188-4e16-a45b-65811ad802bd

Star Trek: Lower Decks is wrapping up after its fifth season, which is set to release on Paramount+ sometime later this year. If one of the show's leads get his way, however, the show will happen to live on through another streamer or network. Shortly after news surfaced of Paramount+'s intentions to cancel the series, Jack Quaid shared a heartfelt message on Instagram in which he revealed he hoped the show could find a home elsewhere.

"I'm so sad to announce that Paramount Plus won't be moving forward with more seasons of Lower Decks. I can't begin to tell you what an honor it's been to be a part of this show and the Star Trek universe at large. I am unbelievably grateful for 5 awesome seasons with this wonderful family," Quaid said in his post.

He added, "I want to thank each and every person who put so much of their hard work and talent into every episode. You are AMAZING. The good news is that everyone who makes Lower Decks LOVES making Lower Decks. I could play Boimler for 17 more seasons. No joke. I'm serious. I love that purple-haired nerd. Hopefully we find a new home, but until then please look forward to an amazing season five (airing this fall).

There's been no indication yet that Lower Decks is actually being shopped around, and series creators Alex Kurtzman and Mike McMahan didn't touch on the subject on a statement shared to the official Star Trek website.

"While five seasons of any series these days seems like a miracle, it's no exaggeration to say that every second we've spent making this show has been a dream come true. Our incredible cast, crew and artists have given you everything they have because they love the characters they play, they love the world we've built, and more than anything we all love love love Star Trek," the statement reads. "We're excited for the world to see our hilarious fifth season which we're working on right now, and the good news is that all previous episodes will remain on Paramount+ so there is still so much to look forward to as we celebrate the Cerritos crew with a big send-off. ... We remain hopeful that even beyond season five, Mariner, Boimler, Tendi, Rutherford and the whole Cerritos crew will live on with new adventures."

The first four seasons of Lower Decks are now streaming on Paramount+ while Season Five has yet to set a release date.

Marvel's X-Men '97 Season 2 "Ups the Ante" https://comicbook.com/tv-shows/news/marvel-x-men-97-season-2-ups-the-ante-newton-brothers/ Sun, 14 Apr 2024 20:15:00 +0000 Cameron Bonomolo f757051a-caab-4290-804d-0299af02165d

[Warning: This article contains spoilers for X-Men '97.] Midway through its 10-episode first season, Marvel Animation's X-Men '97 is at a turning point. What started with a faithful homage to '90s nostalgia got a real-world wake up call in Wednesday's episode 5, which saw a pack of Homo superior-hunting Wild Sentinels attack and decimate the mutant nation of Genosha. By the end of the heart-wrenching episode, titled "Remember It," Gambit (A.J. LoCascio), Madelyne Pryor (Jennifer Hale), and X-Men leader Magneto (Matthew Waterson) were among the casualties of a mass mutant extermination event.

Marvel Studios has already renewed X-Men '97 for a second season, and future episodes will "up the ante" even more, according to series co-composer Taylor Newton Stewart.

"We're working on season two. But we haven't started yet. I know a little bit of the storylines and characters," Stewart, one half of the Newton Brothers, told The Direct. "It's always upping the ante. I mean, it's pretty intense what happens. Yeah, immediately when I was told, I was just like, 'Oh my gosh, what's happening? This is incredible.' So, just as a fan alone, I am very excited."

Across its first five episodes, Marvel's revival of X-Men: The Animated Series has adapted versions of such classic '80s X-Men comic book storylines like Lifedeath and Inferno, and 2001's E is for Extinction.

Brad Winderbaum, head of streaming, television, and animation at Marvel Studios and executive producer for X-Men '97, recently told ComicBook that coming episodes would continue to pull inspiration from Chris Claremont's definitive Uncanny X-Men run up through Grant Morrison's New X-Men.

"Just like the original series that was drafting so heavily from Chris Claremont's work, we're continuing that. We're looking at that late '70s, mid '70s to early '90s kind of era," Winderbaum said. "We do start to play outside of the Chris Claremont sandbox a little bit into the '90s, almost getting to Grant Morrison. But it's definitely just like the OG series, it's drafting from the stories from the books."

New episodes of Marvel's X-Men '97 are streaming Wednesdays on Disney+.

Bluey Reveals Joyous Update to Series' Most Heartbreaking Storyline https://comicbook.com/tv-shows/news/bluey-onesies-aunt-brandy-pregnant-reveal-the-sign/ Sun, 14 Apr 2024 18:44:00 +0000 Charlie Ridgely 28fe0a52-254b-486f-a3ff-fa11b0221f02

If you ask any parent who has watched Bluey about the most emotional episodes of the series, most of them will bring up "Onesies." The Season 3 episode features the on-screen debut of Bingo and Bluey's Aunt Brandy (Rose Byrne), the sister of Chilli who hasn't been an active part of the girls' lives. As you learn in the episode, Brandy has had a hard time being around Chilli's family because she has wanted nothing more than children of her own, but has spent years struggling with infertility. Connecting with Bluey and Bingo, however, Brandy realizes how much she wants them in her life, even if she isn't able to have kids of her own.

In "The Sign," the 28-minute Bluey event that arrived on Sunday, fans got the chance to see Brandy on-screen once again, though she looked just a little different. Brandy, after thinking she may never be able to have children, is now pregnant.

It's a short, quiet moment in an otherwise big episode, but it's the moment that most adult fans of Bluey are going to be quick to recall when talking about "The Sign." As guests arrive at the Heeler house for Rad and Frisky's wedding, Brandy shows up to embrace her sister, Chilli. The two of them take a moment to admire Brandy's baby bump before heading inside.

bluey-brandy-pregnant-the-sign.jpg
(Photo: Ludo)

The show doesn't offer any sort of explanation for Brandy's pregnancy, but it doesn't really need to. She may have met someone and is having a child with them, or she could be planning to raise a child on her own. What's important is that Brandy has always wanted to be a mother and now it appears she has a chance to do so.

Brandy's future child would be the third cousin to Bluey and Bingo, the first on their mother's side. Bandit's younger brother, Stripe, is married to Trixie, and they are the parents of Muffin and Socks. Bandit and Stripe's oldest brother, Rad, was just married to Frisky in "The Sign," so there is also the potential of their extended family growing even more in the future.

With baby for Brandy on the way, the character could be featured even more heavily in future seasons of Bluey. There has been no word yet on when the show's post-Season 3 hiatus will end.

What did you think of Bluey's special episode? Are you excited to see what's in store for Brandy? Let us know in the comments!

Naruto Creator Announces Rare Public Appearance https://comicbook.com/anime/news/naruto-anime-creator-convention/ Sun, 14 Apr 2024 17:57:00 +0000 Megan Peters a2c3dedb-714d-48b0-a0b0-7b293eb2b159

The creator of Naruto is no stranger to fame. While Masashi Kishimoto isn't one to bask in the limelight, his name is known the world over. From public appearances to publisher notes, Naruto fans are always excited to hear from Kishimoto. And now, we have learned the artist is planning a rare convention appearance this year.

The information comes from Kana, a popular manga publisher in France. The company announced it is bringing Kishimoto to France this August along with Mikio Ikemoto. So if you have ever wanted to hear from Kishimoto in person, this event may do the trick.

According to Kana, Kishimoto and Ikemoto will be in France for the first time this August. "We're not done! We have the immense honor of announcing that Kishimoto and Ikemoto will be in France this year for the very first time," the publisher shared. The duo will be in the country between August 24 - 25.

As you can imagine, fans of Naruto are eager to hear from Kishimoto himself. The artist is just 49 years old and already stands as one of manga's preeminent creators. In 1999, Kishimoto brought Naruto to life after mocking up early drafts with Shueisha. Once Team 7 made its debut, the ninja series caught on quickly, and Naruto went on to become an industry superstar by the time its anime launch at Studio Pierrot.

These days, Kishimoto stays busy with Naruto as he oversees the story of Boruto: Naruto Next Generations. The manga is published mostly by V-Jump with Ukyo Kodachi and Ikemoto on hand. If you are not familiar with Naruto, the hit series is easier to binge now than ever. You can find the original run of Naruto streaming everywhere from Netflix to Hulu and Crunchyroll. So for more info on the series, you can read the official synopsis of Naruto below:

"Twelve years ago the Village Hidden in the Leaves was attacked by a fearsome threat. A nine-tailed fox spirit claimed the life of the village leader, the Hokage, and many others. Today, the village is at peace and a troublemaking kid named Naruto is struggling to graduate from Ninja Academy. His goal may be to become the next Hokage, but his true destiny will be much more complicated. The adventure begins now!"

Bluey: "The Sign" Delivers a Big Twist With the Heeler House for Sale https://comicbook.com/tv-shows/news/bluey-the-sign-house-sale-twist-disney-episode/ Sun, 14 Apr 2024 17:32:00 +0000 Charlie Ridgely 1f500613-b780-4e40-9ca5-a77b70d0dc5a

Last week, Bluey fans received quite the surprise at the end of the "Ghostbasket" episode when it was revealed that the Heelers had put their house up for sale. Bluey and Bingo's family seemed to be starting a new chapter of their life and leaving their beloved home behind, but there had been no word as to why. All was to be revealed in the new, super-sized "The Sign," a 28-minute episode capping off Season 3. On Sunday morning, "The Sign" arrived, and fans finally got the answers they were looking for regarding the future of the Heeler family. WARNING: This article contains MAJOR SPOILERS for the latest episode of Bluey...

Early on in "The Sign" we learn that the Heeler home is up for sale because Bandit was offered a new job (with a much higher salary) in another city. That was the reason behind the sale, but not everyone in the family was exactly excited about the move. Bluey was obviously upset about leaving her friends behind, as was Chilli, who was only accepting of the move away from Queensland because she thought the bigger job could be more beneficial for the girls in the long run.

Over the course of the episode, there's a bit of a roller coaster regarding the move. The house gets sold to a couple that are new to town, seemingly making things final. Throughout the events surrounding Rad and Frisky's wedding, however, every member of the Heeler family realizes how much the life they've built in their town means to them. That includes Bandit. He'd been telling himself that the new job would give his girls a "better life" because of the salary increase, but he saw just how great a life they'd already built for themselves in their current situation.

Of course, none of this seemed to matter because the house had already sold and the family had reached moving day. That's where the twist comes in. The couple that bought the Heeler home really had their hearts set on a house with a pool. Just before signing to purchase Bluey's place, they found another house in town -- one that had a pool in the yard. They withdrew their offer, seemingly putting the Heeler home back on the market.

Bandit saw what destiny had designed for them and took matters into his own hands. After getting the call about the sale falling through, he walked out to the sign and ripped it out of the yard, confirming that he was choosing to stay in their home instead of taking the new job. He won't make as much money, but he knows that sticking with the life they already had is the best way to give the girls a wonderful future.

So the Heelers aren't moving after all. They'll be staying in their house on top of the hill for the foreseeable future. Not only that, but Frisky and Rad will be moving nearby on a permanent basis, allowing more of the Heeler family to be in the same place.

What did you think of Bluey's super-sized episode? Let us know in the comments!

Saturday Night Live: Watch Ryan Gosling's Papyrus 2 Sketch Online https://comicbook.com/tv-shows/news/saturday-night-live-watch-ryan-goslings-papyrus-2-sketch-online/ Sun, 14 Apr 2024 16:01:00 +0000 Jamie Jirak 7c682fd2-28a2-432a-b5a0-4addb23d2eaf

There were 13 years between the releases of James Cameron's Avatar and Avatar: The Way of the Water, which gave some people enough time to reflect and heal over the first film's font choice. Back in 2017, Ryan Gosling hosted Saturday Night Live, and one sketch saw him playing a man named Steven Wingdings who was tormented over the fact that Avatar used Papyrus as the font for the film's logo. Gosling returned to Studio 8H last night, and fans were delighted by his "Papyrus 2" sketch.

The new sketch saw Gosling's character coming to terms with the trauma Avatar caused him, and while Papyrus is still "triggering," he's starting to get his life back together. However, things take an unfortunate turn when a trip to the dentist forces him to see the opening of Avatar: The Way of the Water. At first, Steven is relieved to see the font has changed.

"Just to be clear, not a huge improvement, but it made me feel like there was hope in the world," he explains. However, he finds himself opening a word document late at night, typing in "Avatar," and learning the dark truth: The font used in Avatar: The Way of the Water is just Papyrus in bold.

"He just put it in bold," Steven discovers. "Just just put it in bold. All the money in the world, and he just put it in bold." This leads to another spiral and a confrontation with the movie's graphic designer at the "Disney Graphics Awards Ball." You can watch the hilarious full sketch below:

What Is Ryan Gosling's Next Movie?

Coming off the success of Barbie and an Oscar nomination for playing Ken, Gosling has another new project coming out next month. The Fall Guy is Universal's adaptation of the TV series of the same name that is set to star Gosling and Emily Blunt (A Quiet Place) as well as Winston Duke (Black Panther: Wakanda Forever), Aaron Taylor-Johnson (Kraven the Hunter), Stephanie Hsu (Everything Everywhere All At Once), and Hannah Waddingham (Ted Lasso).

Here's how Universal describes The Fall Guy: "He's a stuntman, and like everyone in the stunt community, he gets blown up, shot, crashed, thrown through windows, and dropped from the highest of heights, all for our entertainment. And now, fresh off an almost career-ending accident, this working-class hero has to track down a missing movie star, solve a conspiracy and try to win back the love of his life while still doing his day job. What could possibly go right?

From real life stunt man and director David Leitch, the blockbuster director of Bullet Train, Deadpool 2, Atomic Blonde and Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw and the producer of John Wick, Nobody, and Violent Night, comes his most personal film yet. A new hilarious, hard-driving, all-star apex-action thriller, and love letter to action movies and the hard-working and under-appreciated crew of people who make them: The Fall Guy."

The Fall Guy opens in theaters on May 3rd.

The plea comes from social media courtesy of Yuu Kamiya, the creator of No Game No Life. Taking to X (Twitter), the artist hyped the anime's 10th anniversary before putting out a please for more content.

"It's the tenth anniversary of No Game No Life. Please make a second season," Kamiya posted.

For one reason or another, No Game No Life has avoided a season two. The anime's debut went live in April 2014, and its first film came down the line in 2017. Since then, No Game No Life hasn't given any anime updates. With the light novel and manga ongoing, No Game No Life has plenty of content to adapt. But for now, Madhouse is keeping its mouth shut about a No Game No Life comeback.

If you are not familiar with the sci-fi isekai, no sweat! You can binge season one of No Game No Life on Crunchyroll now. So for more info on the series, you can read the official synopsis for No Game No Life below:

"In this graphic novel, No Game, No Life centers around Sora and Shiro, a brother and sister who are brilliant (but unemployed) gamers whose Internet fame have spawned urban legends all over the Internet. One day, they are summoned by a boy named "God" to an alternate world. There, God has prohibited war and declared this to be a world where "everything is decided by games" - even national borders. Humanity has been driven back into one remaining city by the other races. Will Sora and Shiro, the good-for-nothing brother and sister, become the "Saviors of Humanity" on this alternate world?"

Tom Hiddleston Says He Never Saw Loki as a Villain https://comicbook.com/marvel/news/tom-hiddleston-says-he-never-saw-loki-as-a-villain/ Sun, 14 Apr 2024 14:57:00 +0000 Jamie Jirak f5c7ece8-4d9c-45e2-8175-e9e8cc24b5ec

This year marks 13 years since Tom Hiddleston first played Loki in Thor. Since then, the actor has appeared in The Avengers, Thor: The Dark World, Thor: Ragnarok, Avengers: Infinity War, Avengers: Endgame, and Loki. The second season of Loki came to an end on Disney+ back in November, and many are wondering if Hiddleston will ever return to the MCU as the God Mischief. This week, Hiddleston participated in an FYC event for the second season of Loki alongside some of his co-stars. During the event, Hiddleston explained why he never saw the character as a villain, despite his shady track record.

"Playing Loki has changed the course of my whole life, no question." Hiddleston reflected (via Deadline). "And I feel so proud of where we've ended up in Season 2. It was very creatively fulfilling to bring something full circle. I always saw him from the very first film as a broken soul with a shattered heart who felt like he didn't belong ... all that grief hardens into grievance. That's what binds him to Sylvie."

"And the grievance is what drives him to become a villain in the Avengers and the Thor movies, and this second chance that he's given by Mobius to rediscover that glorious purpose that he feels he's always been burdened with ... it comes in a shape he would have never recognized and would never have anticipated. And it gave him a kind of catharsis that he wasn't ready for," he added.

Loki shared similar thoughts during a recent appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!

"I'm aware that he's made some interesting choices, which could be accumulated into a picture that looks like he's a villain, and once upon a time, he was making some misguided choices," Hiddleston said. "You know, trying to take over New York and the Avengers having to assemble to stop him, that was a bad day in the office. I'd like to think that 14 years later he's making some slightly more generous, loving, and heroic choices."

Will Tom Hiddleston Play Loki Again?

"I don't know," Hiddleston told Kimmel. "I really don't know. I know that we've reached some sort of narrative conclusion with season two, which feels very satisfying to me."

"I truthfully don't know," Hiddleston said in another recent interview when asked about Loki Season 3. "I am so proud of where we landed in Season 2. To go from this lost, broken soul in Asgard, and be given a second chance and learn so much about life that he actually gives himself to protect other people has been such an honor."

You can watch Hiddleston talk about playing Loki here.

Saturday Night Live: Ryan Gosling Goes Full Beavis for Beavis and Butt-Head Sketch https://comicbook.com/tv-shows/news/saturday-night-live-ryan-gosling-beavis-and-butt-head/ Sun, 14 Apr 2024 13:42:00 +0000 Nick Valdez 7142fe0f-deb8-4561-ad4d-d521919e2030

Saturday Night Live saw Ryan Gosling fully dress as Beavis for a fun new take on Beavis and Butt-Head! Saturday Night Live featured Ryan Gosling on his third stint as guest host, and it kicked off with a bang. Not only has Gosling brought back some of the big sketches he was a part of in the past (with special guests along for the ride), but he also had a fiery monologue that helped say goodbye to his time as Ken from Barbie. But even with all of this, his wildest look of the episode was of the famous Mike Judge animated character, Beavis.

Saturday Night Live kicked off what seemed to be a sketch focusing on the debate around artificial intelligence, only to reveal Gosling dressed as Beavis in the crowd. Deemed to be too distracting, Gosling's Beavis was asked to move only to be replaced by Mikey Day dressed as Butt-Head. This was such a moment that even mainstay Heidi Gardner completely broke when seeing the two of them in their ridiculous outfits for the first time, and led to a sketch where no one could stop laughing.

New Saturday Night Live Hosts

With the SAG-AFTRA Strike still without a resolution, Saturday Night Live is unable to tap actors to host new episodes since previously they would only appear on the series to promote some new work (prohibited by the rules of the SAG-AFTRA strike). As a result comedians and musicians have been the only hosts confirmed for Saturday Night Live season 49 with Pete Davidson, Bad Bunny, and Nate Bargatze taking the spotlight for the first three episodes.

Saturday Night Live Season 49 is ongoing now with new episodes airing on both NBC and Peacock, starting Saturdays at 11:30 PM ET. All 48 seasons of Saturday Night Live are also now streaming on Peacock.

Saturday Night Live: Dua Lipa Announced as Host, Musical Guest in May https://comicbook.com/tv-shows/news/saturday-night-live-dua-lipa-host-may-2024/ Sun, 14 Apr 2024 04:20:00 +0000 Nick Valdez c5ddb6cc-e8c3-47f2-83c2-1f9fc4d42a05

Saturday Night Live has officially announced that Dua Lipa will be serving as both special guest host and musical guest for the May 4th episode! While Dua Lipa has been featured on the weekly program as a musical guest in the past (which allowed her to pop up in a sketch or two), this will be the music star's very first outing as a full guest host for the episode. The timing is perfect as well with the release of her newest album Radical Optimism, which will be hitting shelves and digital platforms on the Friday before. So it's going to be a big weekend for the artist.

The announcement for Dua Lipa as guest host comes at a fun time as well as her Barbie co-star Ryan Gosling was special guest host and actually had a special tribute saying goodbye to his time as Ken during the opening monologue. With Dua Lipa also having a couple of movies under her belt and a new album on the way, there are lots of opportunities for great sketches when the time comes. You can check out Saturday Night Live's official announcement below:

Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt Channel Taylor Swift With "All Too Well" (Ken's Version) in SNL Monologue https://comicbook.com/tv-shows/news/ryan-gosling-and-emily-blunt-channel-taylor-swift-with-all-too-well-kens-version-in-snl-monologue/ Sun, 14 Apr 2024 04:12:00 +0000 Nicole Drum 60516b61-58f4-4ef9-bf73-06d63da333db

Ryan Gosling hosted Saturday Night Live this week in support of his new movie, The Fall Guy, but after a 2023 defined by his fan favorite (and critically acclaimed) portrayal of Ken in Barbie, Gosling just can't seem to quite let Ken go -- and even had to channel Taylor Swift to express his feelings about the situation. Gosling's SNL monologue ended up being a musical number that saw the actor joined by his The Fall Guy costar Emily Blunt as they sang their own version of Swift's "All Too Well", just, well, Ken's Version.

Set to the music of Swift's "All Too Well", Gosling sang about his "breakup" with Ken, at one point singing "I was just Ken and now I'm just Ryan". At one point, Blunt interrupted the musical performance to try to get Gosling to just let go of Ryan, but soon was also singing about her role as Kitty in Oppenheimer with the duo ultimately signing a sad, "breakup" song about the summer of Barbenheimer as they said goodbye to their characters -- though as Gosling noted at the end, Ken will never die. Check it out for yourself below.

Taylor Swift's Music Factors Into Gosling's New Movie

Gosling singing Ken's version of "All Too Well" is actually pretty fitting. The trailer for The Fall Guy features Gosling's Cold Seavers crying in his car while listening to Swift's actual song and the film's director Davide Leitch has said that there will be more of the superstar's music in the film.

"I don't want to give it away but there's some Taylor," Leitch told Variety. "There's some Taytay. We love Taytay and so does Colt Seavers."

Leitch further explained to The Hollywood Reporter that Swift's music is actually a big part of the film, at least in terms of how it resonated with the story.

"It's not only the trailer, actually. It was something that was baked into the DNA of the film and when we were looking for a piece of music that sort of represented their romance and their fall from grace in the past, and I won't give too much away because you guys all have to see the movie," he said. "Kelly came up with this idea of, you know, Taylor has this great song and then we started to play it and it just became emblematic of their moment and also, it's such a beautiful cue and it's an emotional cue and it's a contemporary cue and you know anything Taylor does is amazing but like to add it on top of Brian and Emily, now performing it's like magic. You're like, three unicorns doing their thing. It's pretty amazing."

Gosling's SNL Cold Open Brought Back the Close Encounter Sketch

This week's SNL had another treat for fans as the cold open brought back the fan-favorite Close Encounter sketch featuring Gosling's fellow Barbie star, Kate McKinnon. While Cecily Strong was the third in the previous iterations of the sketch, this time around that role was filled by Sarah Sherman. Gosling and McKinnon reprised their respective roles for the sketch, but this time it got a little more physical as McKinnon got under Gosling's undercarriage and it wasn't long before the two started to crack up a bit before even getting too far into this sketch.

Saturday Night Live Season 49 is ongoing now with new episodes airing on both NBC and Peacock, starting Saturdays at 11:30 PM ET. All 48 seasons of Saturday Night Live are also now streaming on Peacock.

Saturday Night Live is featuring Ryan Gosling as the special guest host for the newest episode, and the cold open brought back the fan-favorite Close Encounter sketch with fellow Barbie star, Kate McKinnon. Ryan Gosling has returned to Saturday Night Live for his third outing as special guest host for the show, and with the first sketch they made sure to bring back the Close Encounter sketch fans enjoyed with his first two hosting gigs. And like the first two instances of the sketch, Kate McKinnon came back to reprise her wild role as the one who gets the short end of the stick from the abduction.

True Detective: Night Country Showrunner Clarifies Navarro's Fate https://comicbook.com/horror/news/true-detective-night-country-issa-lopez-clarifies-navarro-fate/ Sun, 14 Apr 2024 02:24:00 +0000 Nicole Drum 886c0994-2377-45a7-8c1b-38ec1f555f43

The season finale of True Detective: Night Country resolves the season's larger mystery regarding what happened to the TSALAL scientists and who killed Annie K. but left viewers with a final mystery of sorts when it came to the ultimate fate of Trooper Evangeline Navarro. The last moments of the episode saw Navarro walk out into the cold and while we see her again, a voiceover from Chief Liz Danvers says Navarro likely won't be seen again.

The ambiguous ending had many fans wondering if Navarro was alive, dead, a ghost, or if there was something more going on and now, creator Issa L?pez is clarifying that there is an answer in the episode -- you just have to pay very careful attention.

"I think that if you look very carefully, very carefully at the show and follow the lines very carefully, there's an answer to what we saw at the end," L?pez said during Deadline's TV Contenders panel. "But again, there's a space for where your heart wants to live... and what you need to get out of it."

L?pez has previously been fairly ambiguous about Navarro's fate, saying that the ending was "an ink blot test" for viewers to discover for themselves.

True Detective Has Been Renewed for Season 5

Following the success of Night Country, HBO has already renewed True Detective for a fifth season with L?pez returning.

"Issa L?pez is that one-of-a-kind, rare talent that speaks directly to HBO's creative spirit," said Francesca Orsi, Executive Vice President, HBO Programming, Head of HBO Drama Series and Films. "She helmed True Detective: Night Country from start to finish, never once faltering from her own commendable vision, and inspiring us with her resilience both on the page and behind the camera. Alongside Jodie and Kali's impeccable performances, she's made this installation of the franchise a massive success, we are so lucky to have her as part of our family."

"From conception to release, Night Country has been the most beautiful collaboration and adventure of my entire creative life," said Issa L?pez, Showrunner, Writer, and Executive Producer. "HBO trusted my vision all the way, and the idea of bringing to life a new incarnation of True Detective with Casey, Francesca and the whole team is a dream come true. I can't wait to go again."

What is True Detective: Night Country about?

The official description of True Detective: Night Country reads, "When the long winter night falls in Ennis, Alaska, the eight men who operate the Tsalal Arctic Research Station vanish without a trace. To solve the case, detectives Liz Danvers (Jodie Foster) and Evangeline Navarro (Kali Reis) will have to confront the darkness they carry in themselves and dig into the haunted truths that lie buried under the eternal ice. The season stars Jodie Foster, Kali Reis, Finn Bennett, Fiona Shaw, with Christopher Eccleston, Isabella Star LaBlanc, and John Hawkes. Guest stars include Anna Lambe, Aka Nivi?na, and Joel D. Montgrand."

X-Men '97: Cable Is Voiced By Surprising X-Men: The Animated Series Star https://comicbook.com/marvel/news/x-men-97-cable-is-voiced-by-surprising-x-men-the-animated-series-star-chris-potter-gambit/ Sun, 14 Apr 2024 00:58:00 +0000 Jamie Jirak 15a66ef0-e64c-422e-b57f-51257663c7d1

X-Men '97 is currently five episodes deep on Disney+, and the series features the return of many voice actors from X-Men: The Animated Series. Original cast members Cal Dodd (Wolverine), Lenore Zann (Rogue), George Buza (Beast), Alison Sealy-Smith (Storm), Adrian Hough (Nightcrawler), and Christopher Britton (Mister Sinister) reprise their roles from the '90s series while returning cast members Catherine Disher (original Jean Grey), Chris Potter (original Gambit), and Alyson Court (original Jubilee) voice new characters. This week, the show revealed that Potter's new character is actually another returning character: Cable.

Earlier in the season, Madelyne Pryor and Scott Summers had to say goodbye to their new baby, Nathan. After being kidnapped and experimented on by Mister Sinister, Nathan was infected with a techno virus that could only be cured in the future. The baby was taken to the future by Bishop, and when Cable returned to the present day, he visited Madelyne, who realized he was her son.

In the original series, Cable was voiced by Lawrence Bayne. Interestingly, Bayne has lent his voice to a couple of different characters in X-Men '97. He was Carl Denti in "To Me, My X-Men," and a FOH Soldier in "Mutant Liberation Begins." Now that Potter is voicing Cable, A.J. LoCascio has taken over the role of Gambit.

Why Are X-Men: The Animated Series Actors Voicing Different Roles in X-Men '97?

X-Men '97 director/producer Jake Castorena recently spoke with RadioTimes and explained why some of the voice cast has changed.

"If we're doing this show, we got to do it with the legacy cast - that was the decision from day one," Castorena explained. "[But] time hits us all - it's been 30 years and so, unfortunately, some of the legacy voice cast is no longer with us, and some of the legacy voice cast, voices and things just change."

"Finding people to take up the mantle for the legacy cast, to fill in the roles, was an absolute process, but I absolutely love and appreciate all of our new cast taking on their new roles - and to hear the blessings from the legacy cast has been also awesome, too," he added.

"For those who wanted to come back and for whatever reasons weren't able to do the voice, we brought them back to play other characters, to make sure we still had everybody in the sandbox... because how do you invite one person to come play, but not somebody else? Especially when they're game and they want to. It's like, 'We'll find something for you,'" Castorena continued.

"Honestly, it's a way to get everybody back. It's the best way to get everybody back, as best as we could."

X-Men '97 releases new episodes on Wednesdays.

Silo Star Has Promising Update for Apple TV+ Series https://comicbook.com/tv-shows/news/silo-rebecca-ferguson-promising-update-season-3-and-4-apple-tv-plus/ Sun, 14 Apr 2024 00:01:00 +0000 Nicole Drum ab60858f-364e-488c-ab41-cdc82650dbf1

Apple TV+'s Silo just got a promising update. Speaking with Collider, series star Rebecca Ferguson shared that there are plans for the show's future, specifically that there is a plan for how the critically acclaimed series would wrap up and that seasons three and four could film together. She also confirmed that filming on Season 2, which had been delayed due to last year's actors' strike, had been completed.

"I believe that the show has an ending, and I know when that is," Ferguson said. "So, that's the answer. You will find out when the show is done. To be honest, I don't think it's a secret. The books are the books. It's three books, and the three books are divided into four seasons. So, I believe, unless any Apple person is gonna jump on, I think we're absolutely fine with saying Season 1, we've done. Season 2 is shot and coming out, and we're now looking at green-lighting Seasons 3 and 4. And I think we would film them maybe together, and that would be the end."

What is Silo About?

Based on Hugh Howey's bestselling Wool trilogy, Silo is the story of the last ten thousand people on Earth, with their mile-deep home protecting them from the toxic and deadly world outside. However, no one knows when or why the silo was built and any who tries to find out answers to these questions face fatal consequences. The series stars Rebecca Ferguson as Juliette, an engineer who seeks answers about a loved one's murder and stumbles onto a mystery that goes far deeper than she ever could have imagined, leading her to discover that if the lies don't kill you, the truth will.

The series is created by Emmy-nominated screenwriter Graham Yost (Band of Brothers, Justified), who also serves as showrunner. The first season of the series is currently streaming on Apple TV+. The series was given a quick season two renewal last June.

"It has been enormously fulfilling to see the engrossing, atmospheric and beautifully crafted sci-fi epic 'Silo' quickly become Apple's number one drama series," Matt Cherniss, head of programming for Apple TV+, said in a press release. "As audiences around the world have become gripped by the mysteries and conspiracies buried within this fascinating subterranean world, viewership only continues to climb, and we are so excited for more secrets of the silo to be revealed in season two."

"We cannot wait for audiences around the world to immerse themselves in the epic world we have created to bring Hugh Howey's novels to life," said Yost. "Apple has believed in our vision from day one and it's an honor to have the opportunity to dig deeper into this story and peel back the layers to our characters in the Silo."

Season 2 of Silo does not yet have a release date.

X-Men '97 Director Denies Popular Fan Theory After Episode 5 https://comicbook.com/marvel/news/x-men-97-director-denies-popular-fan-theory-after-episode-5/ Sat, 13 Apr 2024 23:58:00 +0000 Jamie Jirak 9ccc889f-f579-4ba7-948f-6fba256d39d8

Things are heating up on X-Men '97, especially after the fifth episode, "Remember It," dropped on Disney+ this week. There are a lot of theories floating around as fans try to figure out who was behind the sentinel attack on Genosha that killed many mutants. Many believe Cassandra Nova will be revealed as the show's next big bad. Created by Grant Morrison and Frank Quietly in 2001's New X-Men #114, Cassandra Nova is the long-lost twin sister of Charles Xavier/Professor X whose mission is to destroy everything in Charles' life. However, director/producer Jake Castorena recently told Inverse that Cassandra Nova isn't going to show up in the season's remaining episodes.

"I wouldn't get my hopes up for Cassandra Nova being a huge villain in our show," Castorena revealed. "But what I will say is, I don't think people will be disappointed with our choices."

However, X-Men '97 director Emi Yonemura did share some love for the Marvel villain.

"I love her because she is a challenge for Xavier," Yonemura explained. "I really love the tensions that she brings, the whole other level that she brings. I love her character design as well. I cannot say where we go, but I think what's so nice about using the original series and the comics for where we start [is that it] gives us so many options with so many rich characters like Cassandra to get to play with."

Is Emma Corrin Playing Cassandra Nova in Deadpool & Wolverine?

While Cassandra Nova may not be showing up in X-Men '97, there is a chance she'll be seen in the upcoming film, Deadpool & Wolverine. While the casting hasn't been officially confirmed, there have been many rumors that The Crown's Emma Corrin is playing Charles' sister in the threequel.

In addition to Corrin, the film also stars Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool, Hugh Jackman as Wolverine, Morena Baccarin as Vanessa Carlysle, Leslie Uggams as Blind Al, Karan Soni as Dopinder, Stefan Kapi?i? as Piotr Rasputin/Colossus, and Matthew Macfadyen.

While speaking with the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Levy addressed the many wild rumors surrounding the film and talked about the movie's connection to the greater MCU.

"I'm so wary of giving anything away because I've learned the hard way that even with a few titles - like any Marvel title - everything and anything you say can lead to not only rumors but misinformation. I'll just say this: It's very much part of the MCU, what a privilege, what a wealth of resources and knowledge."

Deadpool & Wolverine hits theaters on July 26th. X-Men '97 releases new episodes on Wednesdays.

X-Men '97: Rogue Actress Addresses SPOILER's Death https://comicbook.com/marvel/news/x-men-97-rogue-lenore-zann-addresses-gambir-death-spoilers-remember-it/ Sat, 13 Apr 2024 22:00:00 +0000 Jamie Jirak 303e4e55-bc99-45e8-9095-8937a4693f95

X-Men '97 is now five episodes deep on Disney+, and the series continues to shock and delight fans of X-Men: The Animated Series. The new show takes place right where the original series left off in 1997, and critics and audiences agree that the reboot is more than a worthy follow-up. The newest episode, "Remember It," featured the biggest shocker yet when a gala on Genosha was attacked by a giant Sentinal, killing many mutants. Warning: Spoilers Ahead! One of the characters to meet a dark fate was Gambit/Remy LeBeau (A.J. LoCascio). Gambit's death was confirmed when Rogue (Lenore Zann) couldn't "feel" him at the end of the episode. Zann recently spoke with CinemaBlend about the episode's devastating moment.

"Well I was devastated too," Zann shared. "I really feel that Rogue loves Remy deeply, and in this episode, we also find out how deeply... The fact that she says to Magneto, 'Some things are deeper than skin.' That's so important because this is what Gambit said, and she repeats that. Anybody who knows Rogue knows that not being able to touch anyone skin to skin has been part of her trauma her whole life. She wants to touch people skin to skin, but she realizes, 'No, some things are deeper than skin,' that, for me, just speaks galaxies and universe of deep, deep love."

Is Gambit Really Dead?

Considering the fact that Rogue couldn't feel Gambit, the character's death seems pretty undeniable. However, the episode also featured the return of Cable, who is voiced by Chris Potter. Interestingly enough, Potter was the original voice of Gambit in X-Men: The Animated Series. With Cable in the mix, anything is possible since he's known for traveling through time and changing history. With any luck, Gambit's death will be reversed. LoCascio also recently spoke with CinemaBlend about his character's death and admitted it was hard on him.

"I was sad, I was pretty devastated, especially since this is a character I've loved for so, so long, and then to get to play the character and then to find out they're dying halfway through the season. I was devastated," LoCascio shared. "Yeah, I had to go through my own mourning process in the same way you would with a friend or a loved one in a weird way."

"I mean, obviously not to the same degree, but there was this feeling of, 'Welcome to the world of X-Men!' And then it's like, 'And then you die!' And I was like, 'You couldn't even wait a couple more episodes!' It's very strange and bittersweet. I'm thrilled to voice Gambit in any capacity, so to do it in these pivotal moments was an honor. But yeah, I definitely felt heartsick and sad. Jake [Castorena] and Beau [DeMayo] had to call me and placate me and tell me, 'It's ok, this is a good story.' I was like, 'Ok...' So I felt very sad."

Alan Ritchson Calls Reacher "American James Bond" https://comicbook.com/tv-shows/news/alan-ritchson-calls-reacher-american-james-bond/ Sat, 13 Apr 2024 21:55:00 +0000 Nicole Drum c7b3d041-6c31-46e4-a47a-85d8381b5c96

For many actors, the opportunity to play iconic spy James Bond would be a dream come true, but don't count Reacher star Alan Ritchson among them. According to Ritchson, he's already playing the "American James Bond" in his starring role in the Prime Video series, and in his opinion, he has the better role. Ritchson told Entertainment Weekly that while he loves Bond, he finds the character "predictable" and that playing Reacher is the. most fun he's had with a character.

"It's funny, I kind of feel like Reacher is the American James Bond," Ritchson said. "And I've never had more fun playing a character. I love those larger than life, over the top action thrillers and spy movies, and the heists that are smart and ahead of the audience. That's really great, but I feel like Bond, to me personally -- people are going to hate me for saying this -- I love Bond, but I feel like it's all a little misogynistic and predictable at this point."

He added, "Reacher, to me, is like the American Bond, and I think it's a cool way to go about doing it where it's a little less purposefully cool. He's not in on how slick he is. I don't feel like we can have characters these days that are in on the joke. Either they know that they're funny, they know that they're smart, they know that they're very cool or capable or invincible -- I feel like it reduces the stakes of stories, and we've seen too many movies, we're too savvy as an audience to be entertained by that."

Ritchson Would Like to Play Batman, However

While Ritchson is fine with not playing James Bond, there is one iconic character he'd be interested in playing: Batman.

"I would love to play Batman. There, I said it, okay? I'll shout it from the rooftops: 'I wanna be Bruce Wayne!,'" Ritchson said in a previous interview. "Here's the thing about Batman. You know what his superpower is? Intelligence. Dude is the smartest superhero there is. He's inventive, and he's got all the gadgets, but he's super smart. I want to be that guy. And, also, to have a cave with, like hypercars, sports cars, and awesome motorcycles."

"The fact that people are interested in me playing Batman is a real honor and privilege. It's one of the first characters I fell in love with as a child: I still remember the big, long pistol coming out of Joker's pants as he goes to shoot down the Batplane," Ritchson previously told BroBible's Post Credit Podcast. "Those iconic moments really resonated with me as a child. For there to even be a conversation or a rumor mill surrounding this role, for me... all I can do is laugh. I just think it's wild that's where we are,"

Reacher Has Already Been Renewed for Season 3

When it comes to Reacher, however, Ritchson will be playing the character for a while. Before the second season of Reacher premiered on Prime Video, the streamer announced the series had been renewed for a third season. Ritchson returned to production this fall and shared news of the renewal with a video from the set. During an interview with ComicBook.com, Ritchson teased what fans can expect from the titular character when the show returns.

"I can't say too much about Season 3, but I will say there's a lot of classic Reacher stories which are just adventures that he gets sucked into in a big way," Ritchson told us. "And we get to enjoy Reacher in a new world. It may not have anything to do with family, with his past, he's just living that adventure out and that's kind of the direction that we've gone and it seems to really be working."

Why Was Beau DeMayo Fired From X-Men '97?

As fans were gearing up for the release of X-Men '97, the surprising news broke that showrunner Beau DeMayo had been fired from the series. Details of his firing have remained under wraps, but Brad Winderbaum recently addressed the news in an interview with Entertainment Weekly.

"I can't talk about the details," Winderbaum explained. "But I can say that Beau had real respect and passion for these characters and wrote what I think are excellent scripts that really the rest of the team were able to draw inspiration from [to] build this amazing show that's on screen." When asked if he would consider what happened with DeMayo as a "firing" as had been the wording used in the press, Winderbaum added, "I don't. 'We parted ways' is the best way I could say."

Fallout TV Series Makes Hilarious Meta Joke About the Games In Episode 3 https://comicbook.com/gaming/news/fallout-tv-series-games-references-best-worst-quests-joke-episode-3/ Sat, 13 Apr 2024 20:55:00 +0000 Kofi Outlaw 8c535a14-7d52-449c-ae42-4943f24cba4f

Fallout is now streaming on Amazon Prime Video, and the TV series adaptation has some winking humor for fans of the games.

(FALLOUT EPISODE 3 - MILD SPOILER)

In Fallout Episode 3 "The Head" plucky young Vault-dweller Lucy MacLean (Ella Purnell) is trying to track down a bounty (a severed head) that can give her leverage to negotiate to get her father Hank (Kyle MacLachlan) freed from the group of raiders that captured him. Of course, other parties are involved in the hunt for the head - including Walton Goggins' character, celebrity actor-turned-mutant-marauder The Ghoul.

The Ghoul manages to follow Lucy's trail, and ambushes her right as a "Gulper" frog monster has swallowed the head whole. The Ghoul uses Lucy as bait for the monster, but can't successfully kill it before it escapes. During the struggle with the Gulper, Lucy defends herself using The Ghoul's satchel - the satchel that contains the crucial medicine that The Ghoul uses to retain his humanity, instead of devolving into a feral zombie-style monster like so many other ghouls.

With his crucial supply of "vials" gone, The Ghoul has to change his mission parameters, adding a stop to visit an employer who can re-up his supply of vials. Needless to say, The Ghoul isn't happy for the detour. When Lucy tries to protest her captivity by leaning on the "Golden Rule" of vault culture, The Ghoul blows her off, dropping the retort that "The Wasteland's got its own Golden Rule: 'Thou shalt get sidetracked by bullsh*t every goddamn time.'"

The Fallout TV Series Mocks One of the Games' Most Controversial Parts

Fallout games each have their strengths and weaknesses, but one aspect of the gameplay that always gets debated is the balance between open-world exploration, "main quest" missions that advance the main storyline, and side quest missions that either require players to complete extraneous tasks for advancement or allow them to experience many additional hours of gameplay outside the main story.

There's an entire sub-culture dedicated to Fallout quests, which have caused so much frustration, confusion, or backlash (see: "Kid In A Fridge" pictured above) that they're almost as infamous as the main content of the games. There can also be an overabundance of quests if a Fallout game isn't balanced properly (see: Fallout 76), leading to player confusion over what to focus on, and how to move through the game.

So, when The Ghoul is making jokes about how the Wastelands of Fallout will get one sidetracked by bullsh*t, it's definitely a meta-joke that hardcore Fallout game fans can chuckle about.

Fallout Season 1 is streaming on Amazon Prime Video.

Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney's Wrexham A.F.C. Gets Promoted for Second Straight Year https://comicbook.com/tv-shows/news/ryan-reynolds-wrexham-afc-rob-mcelhenney-promoted-second-year-celebration/ Sat, 13 Apr 2024 19:32:00 +0000 Aaron Perine b60aa415-0e55-4992-b36a-ec7d60de7dd7

Ryan Reynolds's football club has been promoted again and it's a wild story. Wrexham AFC is the name of the franchise owned by the Deadpool star and Rob McElhenney. When the two actors decided to buy Wrexhan's beloved little club, some people believed it was a publicity stunt. However, the players and their fans have rallied to become a truly inspiring story. This year was Wrexham's first one back in EFL in ages. So, while it was a cinderella run, not many were expecting a repeat promotion after a disappointing season opening loss to MK Dons. However, his club battled and now finds themselves in League One after some rivals faltered at the finish line.

Unfortunately, the club's owner could not be there to witness what's sure to be a massive party in Wales. However, he's beyond proud of the efforts of everyone involved. "A few years ago, if you told me I would be crying tears of joy over a football match taking place in North Wales, you would be Rob McElhenney," Reynolds wrote on social media. "Congrats to Wrexham and to my co-chairman in crime. Double up the town! This is the ride of our lives."

Welcome to Wrexham fans are well-acquainted with the club's exploits from the seasons fo the documentary series. Last year, it played out like a sports movie with Wrexham AFC managing to completely the storybook promotion. CBS Sports Golazo! caught up with Ben Foster after the amazing conclusion to their season. The goalkeeper had a monster save in a big spot against Notts County. He told the show that Reynolds and McElhenney had promised the lads something special if they came through for the club. Foster said, "They promised us a big day out. They promised us a monster one. If we get promoted, they promised us somewhere with a lot of fashion life."

"With the new owners coming in, Rob and Ryan, they've done it professionally. They've built everything up. If you've watched the documentary, little things like, when they first walked in and saw the gym, it's a shambles," Foster would say of returning to his old haunt. "There's basically a medicine ball on the floor and that's about it. Now, it's a fully-functioning professional gym. The lads are in there everyday giving everything they've got."

He added, "It's so cool and it's so weird. They're there quite a lot. Rob is based over here for the next month or two weeks. He's in there every day with the lads. Ryan makes it to about 1 in every three games. But, they're always there in the text messages, the WhatsApp with a "Well done today, we needed that. Fantastic performance.' That's the cool bit."

Are you shocked their team was able to accomplish so much so soon? Let us know in the comments down below!
